No way. There's no way Floyd can even make this fight uncomfortable for Hearns and Baldomir Mayweather is worse because of his hand issues and he wasn't a big puncher. Hearns embarrasses Floyd and bad. There's no one on Floyd's resume like Hearns but Hearns fought better boxers than Floyd. This is a guy who outboxed Leonard anytime they fought. The only way Leonard could beat Tommy was by going for the KO, something Floyd won't have the resolve to do against Tommy. Hearns KOs Floyd and possibly early. This aint a Shane Mosley/Judah?Corley type puncher we're talking about. This guy laid out Duran, a sure ATG with a good chin with just one flush shot.
it could be the ultimate lesson for tall boxers. Fight like the guy in the yellow trunks not the guy who's just been knocked unconcious.
Marvin Hagler said he can still feel his right hand from the first round. Guy would violate everyone at 147 right now for sure. Imagine Tommy v Ortiz!!! Hearns v 144 Marquez!!!!
Please, it's the same ****ing margarito, that version of margarito got beat by Santos. And he can have the greatest chin of all times but if you're getting hit repeatedly by someone like Hearns, your chin won't hold up (like against Mosley).
No he didn't outbox Leonard for 14 rounds. It was a back and forth contest with each man controlling blocks of the fights and showing tremendous versatility. While Tito has been proven to be vulnerable in the early rounds to being knocked down, he's known to comeback very strong. Tommy was a very capable boxer and has the ability to make Tito look basic in parts. That being said Hearns was a lot more vulnerable to the one big shot that Felix ever proved to be. If you could hit Hearns hard and hurt him, then you force him onto the back foot where he proved less effective in my opinion than when he was stalking an opponent. Tito by KO6 in my books. There are very few out there I would favour over a prime Hearns at 147, but Tito is one of those men, along with Napoles, Leonard, Robinson and maybe Griffith.
Boxing IQs don't beat Hearns. Steward said it right. Hearns NEVER had trouble with boxers. It was was when guys started to take it to him where Hearns had trouble. Leonard had to make a decision to take it to Tommy to win that fight.
This is from boxrec: "Behind on the scorecards, Leonard comes back to drop Hearns in the 13th round. Leonard finishes it in the 14th by pinning Hearns against the ropes and unloading a barrage of punches, forcing referee Davey Pearl to step in and wave it off" now i hate boxrec, but that is the way i remember it breaking down when I was watching it live when i was a kid . . . I was a huge SRL fan and. it was back and forth and a great fight but tommy was winning at the time of the first knockdown and was getting tired. Hearns would knock tito down and would not let him back up! But your list is solid on who could be a tight fight since SRR, I will concede that point
I think Hopkins and Mayweatehr might make a fight since both are among the smartest boxers and could adapt their style a little
stylisticly, Mayweather chances against are slim.. Hearns speed, power and accuracy would spell trouble for him.. Everyone who had succes against Hearns, was coming forward trying to take him out.. Even Leonard, who is considered one of the most skilled fighters of the last 30 years couldn't outbox him, he had to turn his warrior mentality on and stop Hearns.. We haven't seen anything in Floyd's career that suggest that he can beat Hearns..
