I remember this. Think Tommy made a throwaway comment that snowballed, or tried to, into the media. From what i remember it disappeared as quickly as it came out. Tommy would have got banjoed
I was referring more to Hearns beating Tyson just beacuse he schooled Tucker in sparring Although yes, if your getting tagged by guys who you knocked out previously, then something is definitely wrong.... 2bh i have trouble watching Tyson Vs Douglas because of how sloppy, lethargic Tyson looked in that fight wirth absolute no rage or desire as we had seen previously. Apparently Aaron Snowell said Tysons diet before that fight consisted of just salads
I dont remember hearing this at the time.Hearns would be insane to fight Tyson.Look at what happened when Barkley tagged him.
I didn't dispute that, it's clear Tommy wouldn't last a round with Tyson. Indeed it's worrying considering how he annihilated the 32 year old Berbick, yet was getting outboxed by an aging 35 year old version. There is a more detailed source somewhere, an interview given by Berbick years later where he talked about it. He basically said Tyson was so bad (even before he went to Japan) that he was getting his ass kicked in sparring. Regarding his diet: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...01203499_1_tyson-soup-and-salad-days-in-tokyo
I haven't read the article, but I remember Hearns implying in the episode of "Greatest Sports Legends" (that show hosted by Reggie Jackson) around that time that he wanted to fight Tyson. I never took it seriously. Tommy was already slurring his words by that time, sadly.
