Hearns was smooth for his heighth. It's just too bad that he couldn't sit down and shoeshine the body every once in a while. Hmm.. Weston could've possibly been a player. 'Few more years, he might have upset somebody.
Another big thing in that Cuevas bout---Steward had Hearns wearing clothing that made him appear shorter. When they were near each other he had Tommy hunch down. The intent was to have Cuevas have to measure just how big the guy was when they got in the ring and not a second before. It really made me pay attention to Mr. Steward who was just a regional trainer at the time. But a very smart tactic.
I like that Weston fight. There are a few others around that 78 timeframe that were interesting too---Curry/Colbert/Espada. Hearns was top notch but there were *****s in the armour. But it was going to take an opportunist and somebody real skilled to work on those *****s.
