He is looking good against fighters that are 5 inches shorter and shot to **** but let us now see this guy step up with someone his own size that can bang, has he even been tagged in a fight yet ? Just want to know what his chin is like, does anyone know if he was knocked out when amateur ?
No but he was rattled on numerous occasions as an amateur where had it not been for headgear he'd have been done. Hearn is doing what he does best which is protect his fighters the same way that ****** guy protects his fighters.
10 fights in, Matchroom and Sky have done what they needed to do in building up the "next British HW hope" as an animal by him blowing people away. Now they have people on the bandwagon and AJ has been built up, they now need to step him up with more stern tests that will see him improve as a fighter so that when the day comes when he does challenge for a world title... he's more than ready.
He just needs durable opponents now. The Johnson option is a very good one, only in his current for I expect him to crumble too under Joshi's pressure after about 6 rounds. If he does well in that fight, the next step should be someone durable that can also punch back. Then we have an idea if "British savior of the heavyweight division #48709" actually is the real deal. I think he very well might be.
Posted this on another thread but it's relevant here as well.. surprised Hearn doesn't look to sign Dillian Whyte, stick him on a few shows to build him up with the idea of selling a fight between him and AJ on the back of the amateur fight....
Kevin Johnson is a decent fight if Joshua can knock him out will be a statement, Vitali Fury Chisora all went the distance.
These fights he's having are pointless, time to step it up now. Lennox Lewis fought for the European title in his 14th fight and World title in his 23rd. Plus it's not like the heavyweight division is brimming with talent either, so even someone fairly highly ranked shouldn't be a problem if Joshua is the real deal. Even someone like Charr wouldn't be too bad, or how about Lucas Brown?
