Very true HH, UFC has way more boring shows. I think that about proves why sooooo many people liked Pride FC over the UFC.
Revisionist history is being kind to Pride which isn't a bad thing - but they had their share of bad or boring fights as well. The yellow card rule was a great idea to motivate the fighters. The UFC should definitely adopt it. I don't know if the athletic commissions would allow for such a thing when you're talking about immediately taking away 10% of a fighter's purse.
Revisionist? How many boring PRIDE fights have you seen? I dont recall any. Thank the lord for the yellow card!
lol I thought that might get a rise out of you, Scurla! I generally try to forget the boring ones - but there were plenty. Usually anything with Alexander Otsuke or Akira Shoji was horrible. Shamrock vs Frye was hugging match. Belfort vs Yvel was dreadful. There were plenty of boring fights usually involving Japanese fighters that were out of their league and just trying to survive.
Very early on in Pride, like 1-10, there were a few snoozers in there. But once they gathered their talent from around the world, like Wandy, Fedor, Rampage, Big Nog etc. their shows were almost guaranteed to be exciting.
I loved Pride guys - so don't get me wrong. I used to watch the Japanese bootlegs before they were released in the States. I'm just calling a spade a spade.
What sums up the UFC is the way the company treated Andre Arlovski, Arlovski was regarded as an unbeatable fighter, the UFC gave him the old Corture hype marketing job. when he won the heavy weight championship belt they loved him. He lost the belt to Sylviaa and the UFC said it was a shock, when he lost the rematch he was on the under card of the next show. Personally I think Sylvia style is bad for AA, and thats why he lost, but to put him on an under card is terrible. Imagine if Vitor Belfort came to the UFC and beating A Silva twice, Silva he could be on an under card if it suites the UFC.
Dana has no respect for his fighters whatsoever. I think its criminal what he did to AA. He completely blacked him out. His final bout with the UFC wasnt even screened.
It's White's version of the yellow card. Look like **** in this fight - no one will see your next fight.
HH has gone 2-3 in the UFC. He lost his very first fight which was supposed to be a showcase fight for him against O'Brien. I don't know why he is complaining about being cut after a loss. He has already lost 3 times in under 2 years.
Difficult situation. Alovski didnt sign a new deal and as a promoter is it worth putting someone who is leaving over on tv.
