2 recent matchups catch my eye.

1st is Tua vs Barret. Tua is the explosive ppuncher from the 90's who probably has close to a billion hits on youtube, also has KO's over several Hwt champs, 2 failed title attempts, and a barn burner vs Ibeabuchi.

However, the 2000's for him were a rollercoaster ride of inactivity, weak opposition, and getting out of shape. After a decade in reverse Tua plans to get back on track in his third decade of professional boxing. He takes on Monte Barret. This is the stiffest test of his comebaack but not really much of proving ground. 4 or 5 years ago this may have been a very good test but he has been beaten numerous times by up and comers. Can Barret test anybody? The only thing to me this fight provs is if Barret wins Tua is done as a contender. If tua wins it really does not answer any questions.

2nd is Adamek vs Grant. After painful defeat to Dawson the tough Pole who had 2 exciting wins over Briggs decided to move to cruiser and right away took on Bell a hard hitting former undisputed champ and stopped him in a lopsided fight. Then he took on consensus number 1 for he vacant ring title and beat Cunnigham in a battle. Now he has moved up again for his 3rd possible belt in his 3rd weight. He has decided to climb the ladder. He is very undersized but has good speed and his so accurate with his punches. He has done something very intelligent and that is climb the ladder. He beat a veteran in Golota. He beat a small quick HWT in Estrada. Then he beat a larger hard hitting HWT Areolla. So far he is passing the tests. The division is dominated by 2 big men over 6'5 and 240 pounds. Golota will look like an ant in comparison and on top of that the little guys are the guys the brothers specailize in dominating and KO'ing. Adamek is figuring out his strenghts at theweight as well as his limitations. In walks Grant. A one time contender he owns wins over Golota and Al Cole. He is a big boy being 6'7 and heavier than both Klits at 257. He resmebles his two biggest obstacles at the weight. He has not lost in years but also has not faced any former champions in a while. Adamek will make this fight a war and Grant showed he does not have the maental make up to survive. But Grant provides a tough test he is on a winning streak and has the tale of the tape in his favor.

    2 questions to pose

For tua is this too little too late?

For adamek can he ever win a heavyweight belt?

As for tua he really needs to step up his competition so we can see what he has left, Barret is a journeman these days his disposition againt solis was patethic, tua will ko him inside 3 rounds.

As for adamek he has very big chane to win a belt if he fights haye. Imo 65-35 fight in his favour, He has some chances against Vitaly, and very slim to none against Wladimir imo.

I'm a big Adamek fan but Wlad to me is an impossible fight Vitali is showing some age so he is possible. Haye is like Adamek a quick cruiser who can hit. Haye is the easiest chance. Or he can keep fighting building his skills then fight for the vacant title when Vitali retires.

Haye's power carried up more than Tomazs and Haye is faster almost like a harder hitting Cunnigham. not a safe fight but definitly safer then the K bros

Haye is not nearly as skilled as Cunningham, he just has more power.

I don't see how anyone can find Tua vs Barrett interesting, it's obvious Tua will KO Barrett, Barrett is so shot it's not even funny.

I like both guys Chag and Meehan

Chag fought a great fight vs Valuev beat him way more decisive than Haye did he has struggled sicne with illness and a beating from Wlad

Meehan got jobbed vs Brewster but his chin failed him vs Williams and Rahman bit his KO of Williamson was so destructive check it out if you have not ssen it. I favor Chag cause Meehan's chin has failed him several times but Chag may not be the same after Wlad and Meehan throws a jab cross with power. We will see this fight has the possibility of being a war. Something this divsion needs

Adamek-Grant is the more interesting of the two. Barrett is not a stiffer test than Cameron or Ahunanya - he's a slight step backward (forgivable only since it's all part of Tua escaping a contract with a local TV network). Being a more well known name doesn't make you a "stiffer test". Barrett is toast. He got blown out by a fat, lazy, disinterested Odlanier Solis. Stiff tests don't get blown out by Odlanier Solis.

Both of these are disappointing indictments of how far the division has fallen if they're being regarded as making it "interesting" again.
