Not underestimating Inoue's boxing ability, just putting things in their proper perspective if he moves up in weight. His boxing skills is not what separates him as a fighter, but rather his power. I don't think that his boxing skills are on par with Fulton's and I don't think that his power can put Fulton in a compromising position. Fulton has a great chin that has been tested and proved worthy. Figueroa can punch, has an iron chin, and a ruthless body assault. His pressure is relentless. Inoue hasn't faced that kind of pressure. Angelo Leo also carries decent power and good boxing abilities. He also brings pressure. Roman, excellent fighter and former unified champion. My contention is this, if his power does not transfer up, then his boxing abilities alone will not assure him a win against these fighters.
What separates Inoue from the rest is not just his power but also his technique. Like I said he doesn’t look for the knockout, he slowly breaks down opponents and knows when he can finish a fighter. He’s an intelligent fighter who rarely loses rounds and just happens to have murderous KO power in both hands. He would be just as successful without the power. Stylistically Figueroa would play right into Inoue’s hands, who is an excellent counterpuncher. I honestly don’t think Brandon would be able to take Inoue’s accurate shots if they were to fight and he would be more hesitant to pressure him As I’ve said before, we really don’t know how far Inoue can go up, that’s why a fight between him and Fulton, MJ, and Figueroa is so compelling. It’ll definitely give us an idea about how Inoue looks and if his power will still be as dangerous. But even if his power isn’t as lethal going up I still think that Inoue has the skills to help carry him far.
Inoue should fight Rigondeaux who outclassed Donaire when he was much closer to bring prime. Easy fight to make because noone wants to fight Rigo. True test of Inoue's skills.
Rigo just lost twice in a row against 2 average fighters, and he’s already 41. No point in that match up, unless you really want to see Old Rigo KO’d.
Nonito has campaigned at 122 and 126, fighting a huge puncher at that weight, and he says Inoue hit him harder than anyone else Figueroa can punch but his power looks more like big man power as in he's huge for the division power to me, not quick electric shock devastating sharp KO power Roman KO 29% Figueroa KO 70% Angelo Leo KO 40% Khegai KO 55% Avelar KO 50% Ambunda KO 36% Adam Lopez KO 30% Greer KO 44% I get that Fulton is the bigger man and he slick but it's not like Inoue is stopping all these guys down at 118 on accumulation and attrition stoppages. He's wrecking most of them early in absolutely devastating fashion and he's doing so with both hands. The way they react to his power and the fashion he's taking them out in suggests his power will carry up 4lbs. Many of these same people who claim it won't would or have picked Twink to KO much bigger champs divisions North of his.
I wouldn't gear any current 122 lb any more than a 20 % chance. I would also make him a slight favourite over any current 126 lb. 130 might be his limit.
Y'all misunderstood the question which was not "which is the highest division Naoya can comfortably operate in" after all Pac & Floyd weren't comfy at 54 & still beat the hell outta Margo & Canelo - they were undersized even at 47 and produced their career best wins. Question remains: comfy or not, outweighed & sized who cares: which are the titleholders he gets to smack in the face with his incredible skills, sharp reflexes, deadly accuracy, excellent stamina and Monsta power and walks away with whatever kind of victory. Say, I think Roger Gutierrez would easily fall at 130, and as defensive as Haney is, Inoue's power is Pac-like that carries, so he could do major damage never mind the size and odds difference. Perhaps even hurt Josh Taylor (or Boo Boo Andrade) who's not exactly consistent and you can take so many shots by seemingly undersized ppl., ask Cotto vs. Pac or Juan Diaz vs. JMM. Monster has THAT kind of weightless power, perhaps more.
