What's the best way to install a heavy bag at home, anybody has experience with that?

(On the cheap if possible -- if I can just fill a duffle bag with old clothes and hit it or have some other kind of DIY contraption then I will use it)

If you are looking to get one on the cheap, Craigslist. I went through a bunch of who ha looking at prices and what not.. but a friend told me he gets his off there all the time.. looked into it.. Apperently a lot of people are just looking to get RID of them too much space.. never use it stuff like that.

Saw a brand new Everlast 100Lb on there for $25 a few days ago.

you want to put a long 2x4, or a 2x6 in the ceiling with a few lag bolts. that will distribute the weight across the length of the board better. attach an eye bolt into the secure 2x4. also go to home depot and pick yourself up an extension spring. that will keep the heavy bag from making that thunder like your house is coming down every time you punch the bag. it acts like a heavy bag silencer.

does anyone rate the racks you can buy for bags, the self standing ones? as in, the metal constructions, not the plastic based ones.
