I've decided I'm going to buy me a heavybag soon, probably this Friday.
The store I've considered buying from has 80 and 100 pound Everlast heavybags. What do heavybags typically come with to hold them up? What else should I buy with my heavybag? I think I'm going to get some Evergels and some 16 oz. boxing gloves, maybe a timer too, anything else I ned to get or need to be aware of? I'm probably going to be transporting my heavybag week after week to and from college and was wanting to make sure it'd be a good idea for me to do this as well.

    Personally I prefer leather heavybags.

If I were you I would make sure I wasn't buying that canvas crap. Also make sure you know what the filling is. If its sand, after a while it will get cement hard at the bottom and soft up top. You don't want that, its best if its filled with rags or other such type material.

Also it would be easier to fill/unfill for transport.

Hmmm, I noticed that the canvas ones come with a lifetime warranty and are typically softer. But I don't really see the difference other than weight

I would not buy an Everlast as they are way to hard, even with wraps and padded bag gloves. Check out Tuffwear, Grant, etc. Sears use to have a water filled bag, I use for several years before one of the straps at the top broke. If you have an Academy store they usually have several brands to chose.

I suggest you check them out and get the softest one you can find. Make sure you get hand wraps also, the 120 inch ones.

i think this Aries bag would be a good idea. no sand. the bottom will not get hard like canvas and sand filled bags.
