Thanks for the response!! I'll take it into account. I tend to practice my footwork while shadow boxing but I'll bring it into my bagwork more now. This was after 1hr40 of solid trianing and my legs were dead so I wasn't moving too much. And the music isn't my choice but I don't argue with the coach....he'd kick my ass :p

It's more that the training I'm doing isn't extremely physically challenging, I'm concentrating on technique in the gym. I can only get into the gym twice per week which I hate, so I make the most out of being with the coaches and practising my technique over and over. My physical training is all done outside the gym, and believe me I push myself as hard as anyone.

As in when I should be moving to the side? Or while punching? Or both?

LOL. No but seriously, one thing i would like to see you improve is the positioning of your hands. they are so far inside that the gloves are basically touching. That's hurting the speed on your punches ESPECIALLY your hooks. It's adding an extra step in your punch technique because you have to bring your gloves outside first before throwing instead of them being out already in position.

I only do that so that it pushes into my hand, combinations send the bag flying, if I'm aiming for power then the bag will move, if it moves into my hand = extra resistance....I think

You dont throw a straight cross properly, you usually over extend.

You may be a natural fighter, but not a natural mover. It looks like your thing might be pressure, rather than groove.

I can move around ok, I move fine when I'm not bouncing which is just a bit habit that I need to stamp out. I'm pretty short armed and small for my weight so sticking and moving wont work too well anyway.

Nah, I mean you don't move naturally. That goes for punching, footwork, and other ****. You don't have the things I like - dynamism, versatility and fluidity that is innate and effortless.

But that shouldn't matter, because like I said, it might be that you're a natural fighter with regards to mind set and durability. You might find that with even more training, you could define yourself as an intense pressure fighter who takes chunks out of his opponents.

I don't punch naturally? How does that work? I don't understand, maybe I'm putting too much effort into it.

I have my share of short comings, but just as with everyone, there are things I do well, too. I've always seemed to impress people with technique, and that goes for boxing, football, martial arts, musical instruments and so on. Not to say that I'm especially good at any of it, but I've near enough always managed to pick up correct technique (and then expand on it) very quickly. It's something I value highly, and probably the reason I love watching the great boxing technicians of the past so much. Despite my shitty stamina, questionable resilience and lack of dedication, I do punch and move very well, and look upon it from a very scientific perspective but am always careful to keep it all flowing.

You don't give out the impression that your brain is totally in tune with your muscles. But then again, you probably have the hard working attitude (which is a talent in itself) that I lack.
