Realising strengths and weaknesses and then adapting is what it's about. I was a really dumb fighter in my first couple of fights, but I've worked hard on my style and although I might not look very impressive, I'd say I'm a respectable opponent. Never again will I try to outjab an opponent who is 6 inches taller than me :patsch it just wouldn't work for me.

You do look like a formidable opponent, and with the right practise you may very well go on to become a complete boxer. Just bear two things in mind; fluidity and variety.

And yeah, I'm really tall (6ft, 135lbs*) and I used to try fighting like Roberto Duran when I first started out.

*Hence the adoration of Panama Al Brown in my avatar, who stood 5ft 11in at just 118lbs. Fantastic tall fighter, and he was never knocked out in his whole career.

WOW, those lightweights must really hate your ass...the guys I've seen around 135 lbs are only about 5'5" to 5'8".

Hey Manassa, have you got any fight/sparring video's of yourself? I like studying how people move. If you don't want to share them with the world PM is also fine. Also could you name a few fighters that stand out when it comes to fluidity, for the same reason? I figure it would be people like Salvador Sanchez and the likes?

Kid did ya say you are 14 years old?? Not too bad then, you got time, but gotta start stamping out bad habits. How tall are you at the moment? I guess you are still growing then. Just stick with it, and take onboard the advice you've got. You may be a rough diamond in need of some polish! But there seems to be something there.

I've never thought to film myself training really. I'm sure I could put up some shadow boxing for you...?

I know a couple of my fights were filmed, but I never bothered to get the footage. Certainly nobody I knew was filming.

Fighters who were fluid... Well I'm really into being relaxed in the ring, too, like Joe Louis often was - punched when he knew it would count. If you look at a prime Carlos Monzon against Bennie Briscoe, observe those long shots. He's not fundamentally flawless in any way, but the looseness when he throws rangy punches is how I like it. Muhammad Ali versus Ernie Terrell... Ray Robinson against Jake LaMotta, especially the last three rounds; deluxe combination punching. Marvin Hagler, in boxing mode, was often very smooth also. And yeah, Sanchez would be a good example too.

Not that I think anybody should imitate these boxers... Just take certain aspects from each of them.

Nah don't go out of your way to video it, if you had it I'd be interested.

I haven't looked much into Monzon to be honest. Robinson of course I have seen. I'm not planning to imitate boxers but I learn from watching them move. It somehow makes it into my brain and sometimes help me to become more fluid or to learn a certain move.

    overall power was pretty good.

Stop slapping that lead body hook, bodyshots need to dig in to do damage

your rear straight isn't straight its kinda like an overhand.

apart from that I'm pretty impressed.. I'm more used to seeing guys push the bag with their punches and think they're the next mike tyson so this was refreshing.

My lead hook to the body does need some work, but I have time to work on it! And I will givew it attention. Yea, I'm trying to work on my left straight, something I'll need my coaches to help me correct!

Throw it alongside a wall, if you stick out the elbow you'll hurt yourself. That should correct you in no time.
