I meant baddest man on the planet in a physical, one-on-one fight scenario, not in a sick, twisted, evil sort of way.

If Vitali were a bit more well known worldwide he might be able to have taken up that mantle. He's always had that steely Cold War psycho killer look to him, and was until recently generally able to back it up in the ring with merciless beatdowns. Wlad, and before him Lennox, were a bit too mild mannered and gentlemanly IMO.

Either of them would still obliterate prime Fedor, let alone...who's "the man" in that sport now? Velasquez?

Yeah, me and my brothers used to have slow-mo bionic man fights, with the sound effects.

The amount of badass in this post got me so pumped up that I felt the need to drop everything I was doing, go to the market, procure 10 lbs of steak, and force feed it to myself in spite of the burden incurred to my body. Thereafter I hit a personal best on bench, squat, and deadlift all on the same session. My exercise session culminated with punching a hole through a 100 lb heavy bag after only having landed one right jab and then a left uppercut-hook hybrid off the backfoot. Yes, I was so amped up that I went into southpaw stance and launched a highly unorthodox punch.

    tl;dr - RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR

Its not about the martial art itself...its about the individual and their attitude and fighting style. Vlad may be 6 6 and 250 with one punch knock out power but he will never be considered the baddest man on the planet, neither would Lewis for that matter.

Mike Tyson was the last boxer to legitimately claim the title. In fact there may only be three or four others in recent history. Sullivan, Dempsey, Liston and maybe Foreman would possibly make the grade. Doesn't mean they were the best fighters on the planet, and their prime is more or less irrelvant.....it was all about the ferocious way they went about their task.

Who is it now.....who cares.....I do know (given the time between the above mentioned ) it may be some time before its a boxer

I think the OP was referring to a one-on-one unarmed brawl. Mentioning soldiers is kind of pointless. Obviously on the battlefield the HW champ would be at a complete loss, assuming he'd never been on a battlefield before, but we're talking about if they decided to fight someone outside a pub.

In that scenario the HW champ would most likely batter all the above men, badass as they are in their own way. Shooting/stabbing someone is very different from fighting someone hand-to-hand. That's why I laugh when you get all these dipshits on the internet who claim NAVY seals would be some kind of unstoppable badasses in a bar fight. Bollocks they would. They primarily train to fill people with lead. Not hit people.

No, not with guys like Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Jose Aldo, etc. around with their crazy **** when they fight.

I seriously doubt that. And it does pain me to say that. Boxing is my sport, but a lot of these top-tier MMA guys, including the oh-so-great Fedor, would overwhelm most top-tier boxers in a one-on-one, no-holds-barred fight. I know that will offend the long-time, hardcore boxing fans and traditionalists, but I don't see how any rational person could think otherwise. I mean, it's not a knock against boxing per se; it's just a knock against the whole notion of a professional boxer being the baddest, toughest man alive who could kick anyone's butt.

And I could definitely see a guy like Larry Holmes just arrogantly walking into an MMA fight (just like James Toney) thinking his stellar jab and great boxing skills would overwhelm any type of fighter. That would be something to see.

Sadly, no longer. This extreme sport generation only feels that way about MMA fighters. They try to duplicate those moves in the street instead of putting their dukes up the way we did in the '40s 'n '50s

Fedor would have killed both of them.
