People talking about how the heavyweight division is lacking talent and isn't what it used to be... THAT'S BECAUSE ALL OF THE TALENT IS IN EUROPE!!! Klitschko, now Haye is coming up, Povetikin, Valuev, Peter.... I am astonished to see how many haters there are going against klitschko since his victory over thompson!!! Wlad can't win either way.. If he knocked Thompson out in 1 round, the haters would have said "oh Thompson was a bum he didn't belong in the ring".. Anyways, Wladimir made 8.5 Million EUROS in that fight!!! HOW CAN YOU SAY HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING IS DEAD??? It's alive.. Just not in America.
they can make alot of money if they want but right now the division is pretty dead in terms of talent, and this is coming from a non-american. Haye is a good fighter but hasn't shown anything at heavyweight yet Povetkin has only had 15 pro fights Samuel Peter is a very very very crude brawler Valuev is all about size and nothing else, not even power Wlad is the best of the bunch but not even as good as his older brother was
Teddy Atlas said that Thompson would knock Vlad out, like so many, now they are complaining because Vlad did not get knocked out. Vlad won the gold medal in 1996, best amateur in the world, one reason Emanuel picked Vlad to train. Vlad is cleaning out the heavyweight division trying to unify the titles.
What I was trying to say that there is still a huge demand for big fights.. In terms of $$$$$$$$.... Just wait til Elder Klitschko comes back, it will elevate things even more.
This is exactly right. It become a sort of self fulfilling prophecy- there is always a reason why the victory didn't count. Peter is too crude, Byrd too small. Brewster was shot. Sultan is a bum. The division sucks anywya, no matter what Wladdy or anyone else does. It is not that bad.
Wlad got credit for all those victories. Just cause people don't rank it up there with a victory over a prime George Foreman doesn't mean that the victories don't count. You have to put the victories in their proper perspective.
Boxing is America IF Boxing is dead in America, then Boxing is Dead:think **** all the foreigners, USA #1 U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!:happy
I'm not American but the US does play a pretty massive part in the sport and if it is severely lacking it definitely doesn't help the division on the whole.
Does anyone think David Haye could beat a shadow of the Vitali that gave Lennox trouble? He has a better chin than Wlad of course.
reagardless of hhow much some people may hate on wlad. HW boxing is in a severe slum and it has nothing to do with america not having great HW's. i mean **** americans are excited about solis, haye, even povetkin none of whome are american. you can't really tell me that this division compares to the division of the 90's even.
commercially heavyweight boxing is doing very well. in terms of viewing figures , heavyweight boxing at the moment is very popular , wlad especially has a huge target audience. does it matter that wlad is not seen as hot stuff in america. not really when you consider just how much of non event boxing is in america at the moment , with no matter who fights who at the moment american audiences are just not tuning in. leading up to the wlad fight on saturday we were told that the fight was headline news , the major event of the weekend, it went out on free to air tv and was broadcast in many countries. time zones mean that prime time american boxing goes out to 1 man and his dog audiences outside north america. it seems now boxing has become more of a world sport and not an american sport a lot of fans are stuck in a timewarp and simply bury there heads in the sand to the fact boxing is thriving outside of there shores.
With the exception of the heavies of the 70' sand 90's, those four opponents are comparable the best four of most greats. Joe Louis- Max Schmeling, Max Baer, Billy Conn, Joe Walcott Larry Holmes- Tim Witherspoon, Ken Norton, Mike Weaver, Ray Mercer. No even going to count shot Ali here. Jack Demspsey- Jimmy Flynn, Angel Firpo, Jess Willard, Geroges Carpentier Rockey Marciano- Charles, Walcott, Moore, and Louis, but all on the downside. In fact, you even subsitite Lastarza for Louis since he was so old. Tyson- Old Holmes, Spinks, Tucker, and maybe Ruddock? You get the picture. Wladdy is building a legacy, and ought to get credit.
So because he made 8.5 million it's not dead? We're talking dead talent-wise. Valuev is a talent according to you????!! He must be one of the worst boxers who ever lived. The only thing he has is his skyscraper height. I agree with you on Peter and Haye. Wlad, yes he keeps on winning but Steward f*cked him up by making him an EXTREMELY boring-a$$ boxer.
