"World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury could lose his licence after he revealed he was taking cocaine to help him deal with depression.

BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith said cocaine use is against the law and "will be dealt with accordingly".

Thoughts? Do you think he will retire because of this + his depression and losing the belts?

Since when is BBBC law enforcement? Dumb law I say, if Fury wants to do coke in his leisure what business is it of ****head Robert Smith?

Except he was caught with it in his system from a drug test. There's a difference between talking about it and actually getting caught in a drug test lmao.

I was replying to this comment in general that it's against the law.
Frankly I don't think cocaine should be classified as a PED either.

BBBoC and UKAD will destroy Fury. That's what you get for disrespecting our sport.

It's on WADA's list of banned substances.

Even if you don't think it's a PED (it's a stimulant so has some properties that could enhance performance, even if in training - not like Tyson's done any of that lately) it could also be considered a safety issue in that it elevates heart rate and could make a boxer using it more susceptible in that way, or in many other ways (it keeps users awake and someone fighting or sparring coming off a bender could not have full reflexes).

And regardless of whether you think it has any properties that should make it illegal or performance-enhancing or performance-debilitating, it's on the list of banned substances. And any professional athlete subject to drug testing should avoid taking banned substances. To take a banned substance should have consequences.

Agreed. He broke the rules and deserves to be punished.

This is disgusting because it could tip him over the edge to suicide.

Tyson should be respected as the HW world champion and celebrated, instead there is a witch hunt and people trying to kill him off.

Well if the British Boxing Board of Control won't sanction the Joshua-Fury showdown if Joshua beats Klitschko, I'm sure someone else will take that money.

I sincerely hope not, but if he were to attempt suicide the cause would relate to not getting proper treatment for his mental illness and, to a lesser degree, people around him enabling rather than getting him the help he needs.

If his license is to be suspended, it's because of his own actions. Actions have consequences. If a fighter threatens suicide, should he be allowed to take banned substances? Never defend his title? If he says, "I'll kill myself if the judges don't give me the decision," should the scoring be altered in his favor?

I think a minor punishment like a fine or a short suspension is sufficient. No need to strip his belts and revoke his boxing license etc
