Props again for the epic post man, appreciate it. :good

I've been updating Wlad's tally as it's gone along (it's also a good way to bump the thread up).

Wlad: 21-2 (16), 22-2 (17) if Mormeck's cruiserweight rating is taken into account.

The thread that refuses to die....primarily because I keep reviving it despite its wishes.

Wlad is now 23-2 (18 ) with the latest KO over Pulev.

Would be good to see it posted one day Luf, although I suppose you probably did the lists for yourself rather than us leeches :p. But a very well done from me. How did the other lists compare to the heavyweights, In terms of time consumption and were there any weight classes were the results are so conclusive that only a few fighters stood out with the best resume in their respective class?

Well Wlad's run finally came to an end.

And Webbiano it drove me insane. Genuinely killed my love of boxing research.

    That's why I'm all about h2h now.

    I love it

It's a damn shame, hasn't been the most entertaining run, but it's been mighty impressive, as is 24-3. Just a shame about the Purity loss. Still though even with it he boarders the very top of top end of the all time heavyweights, I just don't want to see him fight any longer than what's necessary. Win or lose it would be nice to see the Fury rematch be his last fight provided it goes through.

Yeah better just watching fights now, can never get bored of that and I don't have to trawl boxrec and newspapers to do it.

Or has the word c0ck become so much more by the cite demonstrating the need to censor it? By censoring Gerry C00ney's name I think racist chuckle every time it is starred out see that their reference is made in abstensia.

"Genuinely killed my love of boxing research"

Well, I hope it comes back as this is very interesting reading. Does take a mountain of work, though, I imagine.

    I have a question, though.

Why is Tunney listed at 9-0 when he lost to Greb who is among the ranked opponents? Is this because Greb is not considered a heavyweight in 1922 but is later?

Comments--Schmeling was a lot less impressive on this list than I would have guessed.

*I might try putting together a list top to bottom with victories and another with percentages using your research just for fun.

Well, I went through the list to get the top victory totals and the top winning percentages. I came up with this--

    Total Victories:

    1-----Joe Louis (50)
    2-----Muhammad Ali (43)
    3-----Jack Johnson (27)
    4-----Wladimir Klitschko (24)
    5-----Ezzard Charles (24)*
    6-----Larry Holmes (22)
    7-----Lennox Lewis (21)
    7-----Jack Dempsey (21)
    9-----Mike Tyson (17)
    9-----Evander Holyfield (17)
    9-----Jack Sharkey (17)
    12---Rocky Marciano (16)
    12---Sonny Liston (16)

*Charles--26-10 seemed wrong to me, so I counted his wins & losses up and came up with 24-16. I will use that.

Best winning percentages (draws counted half-wins, half-losses)

    1-----Rocky Marciano (100%)
    2-----Joe Louis (94%)
    3-----Rid**** Bowe (93%)
    4-----Lennox Lewis (91%)
    5-----Muhammad Ali (90%)
    6-----Wladimir Klitschko (89%)
    7-----Sonny Liston (89%)
    8-----Vitali Klitschko (85%)
    9-----John L. Sullivan (83%)
    10---Jack Johnson (80%)

*Sonny Liston--I thought Leotis Martin was rated when he fought Liston, which would drop Liston to 16-3 and put him at 84% and in the 8th position, trading with Vitali.

**Tunney--If credited with 9-0, he is tied for first, but with 3-2 or 2-2-1 against Greb, he drops to 85% or 81%. Either way, he does make the top ten.

And I thought I would do wins over losses

    1-----Joe Louis (47)
    2-----Muhammad Ali (thirty-eight)
    3-----Wladimir Klitschko (21)
    4-----Jack Johnson (20.5)
    5-----Lennox Lewis (18.5)
    6-----Larry Holmes (17)
    7-----Rocky Marciano (16)
    8-----Jack Dempsey (14.5)
    9-----Sonny Liston (13)
    10----Rid**** Bowe (12)
    10----Mike Tyson (12)
