    Instead of the typical slow progress in public perception and attention, these Heavyweights moved the dial much quicker
    than the rest of the group.

    I agree with your sentiments on this,Unforgiven. Only us hardcore boxing fans really knew about Holmes. He did n't strike a chord with the non boxing type.

    As HW champion, Liston drew a great deal of comment and attention because of his sordid background and perceived invincibility.

    Mr. Un,

    I was debating on that one, but his victory over Gerry Cooney was
    very important 'at the time'.

    And his destruction over Muhammad Ali, closed the door on that once
    great career, and saved the public from being taken in by Ali again.

    Larry Holmes 'saved the public' from further embarrassing acts by Muhammad Ali.
