Haye injured and lost against a former plumber from LHW Povetkin is cheating disgrace and got already banned Fury became fat monster who does not care about boxing anymore Klitschko will get brutaly sparked out by Joshua. So there will be a current state of HW division Champions - Joshua , Wilder , Parker and only one solid contender who is already old grandpa named Ortiz. So haters can not complain about Wilder or Joshua fighting bums - because there are only bums in HW division without Ortiz Grand final will be battle between Wilder against Joshua most likely
You are right in a way. Everyone had high hopes for the division only a year ago. Haye was back, and we hoped he would still be as good, and make some great fights, we were wrong. Wilder looked like he could of gave us some good fights, after being outboxed by Szpilka and Washington it is clear Wilder is going to get completey tanked by Wladimir, Joshua, Povetkin, Fury etc. Parker did not look great against Ruiz, even though I applaud his choice of opponents, if Parker was going to have any chance against top fighters, he had to beat Ruiz and look impressive, instead be barley won. Ortiz who was looked at as some killer everyone was ducking has not looked great since Jennings. Unless Fury comes back, the winner of Wladmir vs Joshua is going to have a very easy reign.
Haye looked super old and slow , the new generation has to come! If AJ wins , this would be the start of a new era. The boxers must start to fight between each other... Look at the lower divisions , Thurman , Garcia, Pac, Brook, Spence , Broner , Porter - they all make good fights and thats why the heavyweight division is dying - just because there arent any big names. Fury is out , Povetkin banned , Ortiz is aging as hell, Teper and Browne the cheaters, Briggs and Oquendo fighting for a tittle ... WTF there are 3 names - Parker , Joshua and Wilder and they dont have any challengers.
It's still much, much better than it was about 5 or 6 years ago. The only guy that seemed to be a legitimate threat to Wladimir in nearly a ten year reign of dominance was Sam Peters. That should give you an idea on the lack of talent pool the HW division had for quite some time. I wouldn't say this is a resurgent period for the division, but it's still much better than it was just a couple years ago.
