    video!!!!

Here's my take on it, the American and British press only want fighters who speak English as their FIRST language to be heavy weight champ. They do not want , for example, a polish person to be champion. It's far too hard for them to market. The Klitschkos can speak great English now, (Wlad a bit better!!:p), but what if they couldnt? Why should they have too?

Let me take you into the future in 5 years time, the brothers have retired, we have a new hw champ, he's polish and fights mostly out of Poland and Germany. He speaks very little English. (No it's not Adamek :p). Will he have worldwide interest?

The Americans dominated for a long time, it ****s with their brain that this isnt happening anymore. Not to mention that the big fights don't have to take place in America anymore.

Unless these people in the media wake up, that we live in a global world and that the hw champ doesnt have to speak English. Then the division will continue to be overlooked.

    What do you guys think?

it's no secret they want an american HW champ. I've been hearing the only one who can save the world(the US is the world to the yanks) of boxing is a trash talking, swarming HW.

The thing is that at least ONE of the opponents must be UK or US based. Either born there or at least based there.

Nobody in the US would want to see Pacman box some unknown guy from Poland who doesn't speak English. Nobody in the UK would watch some guy from Argentina fight some guy from Japan.. no matter how exciting the fight is.

That's the thing. People constantly talk about "Oh I want exciting fights" ... "Oh I want fights to happen in MSG". The truth is nothing like that will happen unless at least one of the fighters is APPEALING to the English speaking audience (the audience with $$$).

I agree. Roy Jones cracked me up with his "I'm going to go out and find the next great American heavyweight" line last week near the end of the HBO broadcast.

I don't care where fighters are from, and real fight fans shouldn't either.

I guess that's true for casual fans, but the hardcore ones would love to see a Gamboa vs Donaire or Martinez vs Abraham type of fight

In the U.K we had the trash talking guy, Haye. Now he is just another K2 victim .

This really pisses me off, boxing seems to be as much about marketing than winning. Certainly Haye is a great example of that. The Brit press will only write about boxing when there is a British fighter involved. No wonder it's a niche sport. It's all about MARKETING and PROMOTING the fights and fighters in the media. Especially with the glamour division, if this doesnt happen, then the general public have no idea and boxing becomes a niche sport.

The hw champ should be known worldwide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the past, when you had 2 0r 3 channels, it was different. I believe the hw champ could have been non English speaking. And before that, when there was no tv..definately. The hw champ was a BIG thing, it was huge. It would be all over the papers.

is it going to come down to the yanks doing a nazi germany stunt to try n take over the world so they can claim they own a champion in the hw division??on a serious note.i think the media is a disgrace saying the divisions dead when it clearly isnt..we do however have a problem with contenders fighting each other as promoters are making to much money pitching there guys against bums to get a title shot, the trouble is by the time they get the title shot they are full of that much confidence that they go in over confident and lose comprehensivly..all the division needs is contenders fighting each other then it would be fine we woudltn be relying on the champions doing so much then taking the blame just because they easily beat there oposition..i for one am glad the k bros are about and hope they are still there for at least another 3 years

yeah, but I'm mainly talking about the glamour division. That always attracted most of the casual fans.

good post, but I don't think our media or American media really want to show (for example) a russian and Polish guy fighting in Germany.

It's not what they have been used too. It' really sad for the fighters involved.

yeah..but why is it that way? :think

Surely the media has to stoke up interest, but they simply don't want too. It doesn't fit with their agenda.

Yeah the HW has been the proud of the US and AA people for a long time.
It's clearly a national pride and racial thing :verysad

America will never have a Champion until they stop dumpster diving for fighters. The west must start looking for the best and only for the best.

Not just the best the sitting in prisons........

The US certainly goes by the motto, "If one of ours is not winning, don't pay attention."
