Amazing how you talk about "who he lost to" now. So Peter is a better fighter because he was beat by top guys compared to "journeymen"? Brewster ia a former champ, Sanders is a former champ. Journeymen? :-( :-( :-(
They both were journymen before fighting Wlad, Sanders lost to Nate Tubbs by I believe 2nd round knockout and also to Rahman by knockout. If you remember, he was the last man called on a long list to come to Germany and fight Wlad, everyone else turned the fight down. As far as Brewster is concerned, he was 15 or 16 months inactive before fighting Wlad, he also had losses against Eitenne and Shufford. Neither man had a good win up until beating Wlad, thats a fact.
Klitschko put on a clinic tonight, after 4 years off. He is a prime heavyweight, you don't like the fact that you wanted him to lose. He dominated the division before he retired, and he's picking up where he left off. We have a very good fighter, who people don't want to give props to.
The problem with the HW division is not TALENT! It is in the fights that are made. Look at the prospect we have right now; O.Solis-C.Arreola-K.Johnson-E.Chambers-D.Boytsov-Etc. And what do the promoters do, get their fighters (these prospects) fights against no name bums. How many time is Holyfield going to fight for the title, while Chris Arreola has to beat up on a npbody with a padded record to keep active. Look at someone like Kevin Johnson, he has been calling out Golota, Briggs, Povetkin, Hayes, and who does he get in his next fight: Galen Brown (19-8 12ko's). The HW division is full of hope and promise, yet how do we get to see the talent at hand when Valuev and Holyfield are in negotiations, wouldn't Travis Walker or Chazz Witherspoon (Against Valuev) be better fights.
Just don't watch it if you don't like, there's no such thing as abolish an entire division because it's lacking, the division isn't a branch of KFC or McDonald's. Don't like it?, there are many other divisions out there, don't like those too?, UFC and WWE are open.
Kids got a point. I saw the fight and it was Vitali landing nothing but his jab. It was another Heavyweight snoozer.
i don't know if foreman really earned a title shot, but his KO of moorer ( a decent champ who imo is clearly better than the current lot except for the klitchkos) is one that can happen in any hw fight where a guy has power.
What needs to happen is to make either the Cruiserweight division heavier or make a superheavyweight division with a height minimum of 6'4". The problem is that these shorter heavyweights just can't compete with the tall fighters in this division. It is a stylistic mismatch. There is nothing wrong with the fighters, just the matchups.
Good point but until then lets see if Haye can make some noise in this division to spice things up a bit. :bbb
Brewster was able to handle Wladimir, so did Sanders. How about taller Welterweights and Middleweights?, it's not their problem they were born that way and have the ability to make the weight. Heigh difference and reach is a part of the sport and a major part as well. Just take a look at how big Valuev is and how Ruiz was fighting well against him, same with Donald and Chagaev. Size can be controlled if you know what you're doing, Peter did nothing to show that and the height difference isn't the only reason. Shorter guys have their own advantages as well.
People are just upset that white guys are winning, so they the division sucks. It confounds them that all of these white guys are winning, so they have to make up an excuse because the division sucks.
He has to get past Barrett before anyone makes any hoopla about him. I'm not so sure he can do that...Barrett is a pretty good measuring stick for the HW division...if he is anything special, he should be able to knock Barrett out with very little problem.
