Ron Artest one of the most feared players in the NBA (probably not any more) punched a short fat drunk fan several times, who couldn't do 15 sit ups, and did not even hurt him. He seemed pretty unfazed.

Anyone have a clip of when Shaq tried to punch Brad Miller and missed? That was most telegraphed, widest, slow punch I have ever seen.

Basket ball skills don't relate to fighting ability. That is like saying that a powerlifter is so big and powerful, if he was trained fighter he could beat any MMA fighter.

    your COMPLETELY missing the point

you would be hard pressed to find someone in the entire universe who is as big, strong, physical, athletic as lebron james & dwight howard ... if they were taught traditional boxing technique from the time that they were young.... they would be legends in boxing

    so bear with me and

    This content is protected

that these guys actually were trained and had the things i said in the first post... which you probably completely scrolled over.... who IN YOUR SMALL IMAGINATION do you think would win?

Being a great athlete dont mean that they would be a great fighter. I gurantee there are players sitting on the bench, who can jump not as high and slower that could lay their ass out. I have yet to see a good use for jumping ability in a fight. That is what nba players specialize in- jumping, they are built for it. I am sure that there is plenty of pro athletes who can run as quick. I am certain there are many pro athletes stronger than them, as they both are very tall and a just a little bit lanky limbs.

True that jumping and running don't have a place in a boxing ring. But undeniably athleticism, speed of hand and foot, and coordination/rhythym do. But the mental and heart certainly is up for question as to whether any of these guys have what it takes.

first of all.... being an athlete translates.... lebron im sure would have no problem playing football or soccer or any other sport for that matter... the only challenge would be learning the technique

and ive been watching the nba for quite sometime (the 80's) and there hasnt been an athlete to match lebrons combination of size, athletiscm, speed, explosiveness, and power in the history of the nba EVER

trust me .... if lebron or dwight knew the technique they woudl be legendary figures in the sport of boxing...am i saying they would be the best? hell no....but they would be incredible boxers..

you obviously dont know much about the relationship between 1 sport to the next.... a great athlete is a great athlete

bo jackson for example.... this guy played baseball and football and was a legit force in both sports.... why? he was a great athlete...

you ever see floyd play bball? well i have and he is pretty good for someone who doesnt know the technique.. why is that? because he is a great athlete

    all sports share common actions

explosion, agility, eye hand coordination, balance, footwork, power, speed, size, etc etc

just stop being difficult and think wtih your head

The most important attributes in boxing is punching power, handspeed, stanima, heart, quick reflexes, chin, etc. These guys are completetly unknown in all of those attributes.

All we know is they have a long reach, and can jump very high.

We know they have quick reflexes obviously, and stamina we know is built. But heart, power and chin, agreed.

By quick reflexes, I mean the ability to see a punch coming and avoid it. Some fighters have it- others don't.

Some fighters are hard to hit like James Toney. Others block punches with their face like Arturo Gatti.

    Lebron James UD Dwight Howard.

LBJ would box Dwight. Hit and run, just like what PBF did to Oscar.

    ---

Imagine if LBJ picked boxing gloves instead of a basketball, no doubt we would have an UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION of the WORLD.
