michael grant was a great high school basketball , football and baseball player....never could do much in boxing...... so whos to say while these guys have huge bodies and athleticism...they could be a michael grant or worse...boxers are born...not made

dennis rodman would destroy the ukranian brothers....

americans and this "the would be heavyweights are moving to more lucrative sports hence its direness" type threads are ludicrous and really exposes the character and make up of you as a people!!

not a personal attack just a statement of observation, lebron james hahahaha if only he punched the speedball instead of dunking it eh,if only??

the whole theory of a guy looks the part so he could be the part is a theory for children and comic book illustrator's.

    funny ****.

how about fedor emelianenko greatest mma fighter ever
    rob kaman greatest kickboxer ever
joe lewis greatest martial artist of all time
    etc etc

look em up n tell me they LOOK the part!

    its a fact pal...

let me explain to you some things you can get as a heavyweight in other sports aka a football player or nba player or even a hockey player...

a free high school education +
    a free college education +
participation in a high school sport with equipment payed for
participation in a college sport with equipment payed for
respect of your peers (in high school & college) aka GETS THE GIRLS!
a minimum of 500k - a maximum of 5 million dollars once you are a professional

boxing doesn't guarantee you any of these things... theres no organization for the sport, you dont get anything for free in the sport, the sport doesnt send you anywhere except the olympics if your really good, and the type of money you make being awful in the nba,nhl or nfl is the kind of money the top guys in boxing make ... the only way your getting in a boxing ring is if your parents/friend drags you down to a gym and FORCES you to box.... when their is a soccer/footbal/basketball field/court on every corner of every city and town in america...... its not that difficult

yes if only usain bolt learned to swim, phelps would be a toesucker..

if only beckham regularly tee'd off as a child and tiger woods had a penchant for bending balls

how about if schumacher was raised in the hood and kobe was named after a shoemaker who regularly broke the speed limit

could jonny wilkinson have been englands joe calzaghe if the sheep came a calling as a youngster rather than a leather egg..

    etc etc

    utter piffle.

could phelps have been at the pinnacle of netball( sorry basketball) if he so chose the sport at a young age then ?

your gem of a theory would suggest so..

or is it certain athletes of which you speak?

yeah but your being stupid about this...... everything in the world has a trickle down effect and is connected

in the early 90's when the market for the nba & nfl grew so did the money being given away in these sports...

in the 80's a big contract was a ONE MILLION DOLLAR contract

in the 90's a one million dollar contract became small

because of this the focus on high school sports grew because parents started looking at the whole sports thing as winning the lottery.... why the hell would a parent send their kid boxing for? it doesnt make any sense.... only thing that would be good for is keeping a kid out of trouble.... other wise it doesnt have much a future... **** even in basketball you could be a C level bball player or football player but still play at a division 2 or 3 school & get a free education.... what the hell is being a C level boxer going to get you? slapped all across the gym

your just being ignorant and different ... if you think it through its not that complicated

you cant make a correlation between the type of athleticism that is used in swimming & basketball...

football - basketball - soccer share similar feats of athleticism

changes of speed- rhythm - explosion - size - power - balance - speed- eye hand/foot coordination - agility - ability to think on the run

all these same things are used in boxing..... i have no idea what phelps looks like when he is on his feet & outside a swimming pool..

but i can tell you football-soccer-and basketball players that have all the attributes i listed and these are also things that are required in a boxing ring.. even kendall gil 17 year nba player.... who had a reputation of being soft upon his retirement in the nba took up boxing and decided to take a couple fights and he went 3-0 and he wasnt even that big of an athlete in comparison to a lebron james or dwight howard..... your just being a smart ass i know but give it a rest

on your first point i agree, funny you should mention trickle down effects i was thinking the very same about this thread,it needs a good wipe!

point 2-ignorance is a form of indifference, and yes im ignoring your reasoning.

only playing WWM,stick to your guns if you have a theory we are here to listen my man, although i have to say you have sent me absent mindedly off to youtube again in the hope of finding reality.:D

id bet money that if dwight howard trained to box for 8 months for like 2 -3 hours a day only taking breaks on sundays that he would annihilate valuvev..... probably ko in less than 10 rounds

your theory is suggesting a top athlete would dominate in any chosen sport simply due to the fact he was a great athlete is it not,now cut the pedantics of chopping these sports up and corralating their respective merits and values of how these would suit a chosen athlete and his attributes,a great athlete is just that is he not?your theory is that lebron james would be a great boxer...

simply because hes a great netball player, now stick to your guns and hold your conviction my boy,you started this thread and its intangeable naffness now stop side streeting and admit you believe in the tooth fairy and consider yourself to be an elite xbox player.

his ability to dunk a basketball would suggest he has a chin of iron, the desire to win,to take it to the trenches,a jab of such eloquence only a true artist could appreciate, a bob n weave a ballet dancer would literally die for,his height elevation would leave the klitchkos cloud chasing and simply because hes a big, black, dunking, pimping, inked up american nba player?

    great work WWM,:good

IM ONLY BEING A DICK,DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL.

    for ****ing fun

not to be taken so literal you poor *******

as my first post i didnt say lebron vs wlad, dwight vs vitali, kobe vs bhop, amare vs ruslan

i drew up a fake scenario and you were supposed to take 10 seconds to pretend the situation was real and say an answer...

not over analyze why a basketball player wouldnt be able to box (which they would be able to) boxing is the most natural sport we as humans know and are made to do......

im not saying a top athlete of 1 sport would be a top athlete in another... im saying a great athlete is a great athlete

terrel owens is good at basketball
steve nash is good at soccer
kendall gill is good at boxing
lebron james is good at football
carlos quintana is good at basketball

a great athlete is a great athlete and it translates ..... maybe you have never participated in a sport and would not know that

Savant Syndrome is a rare but spectacular condition in which persons with various developmental disorders including autistic disorder have astonishing islands of ability, brilliance or talent that stand in stark markedly incongruous contrast to overall limitations. The condition can be congenital (genetic or inborn), or can be acquired later in childhood, or even in adults. The savant skills co-exist with or are superimposed upon various developmental disabilities including autistic disorder or other conditions such as mental ******ation or brain injury or disease that occurs before (pre-natal) during (peri-natal) or after birth (post-natal), or even later in childhood or adult life. The extraordinary skills are always linked with prodigious memory of a special type — exceedingly deep but very very narrow.

    wwm,i consider you special.

now shall i test the fire alarm or shall we count matchsticks??

imagine,no fantasise even that you are a real earthling with a mental age of 12 and above and that you and your heroes live in the real world ,now that would be a thread i would post on.

    im out c'ya.

Every time I watch a fight in Hockey I can't help but think how terrible they really are.

Honestly, Lebron would destroy anyone in the NHL. That is assuming the fight didn't take place on ice...
