Well, I think Louis would stop Foreman. Tyson I'm not so sure about because he'd bring speed and accurate combination punching to the table Foreman didn't. Ali and Marciano would be a memorable, classic fight.
Mike Tyson vs George Foreman - Very compelling. A sure fire entertainer. Evander Holyfield vs Sonny Liston - again, but not as intriguing. Muhammad Ali vs Rocky Marciano - Very interesting, but it goes one of two ways for me... Joe Louis vs George Foreman - I'm afraid Louis gets wrecked. Joe Louis vs Mike Tyson - I'm certain Louis gets wrecked... Sonny Liston vs Ray Mercer or Riddick Bowe - Although entertaining, I think Liston beats both convincingly. Larry Holmes vs Joe Fraizer - I'd be afraid to see Frazier get boxed up or worse.. Lennox Lewis vs one of the Klitchsko brothers - Interesting, but I think Lewis beats both. And finally Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes - Evenly matched. I like this one, and anyone who wouldn't be interested because of an automatic Ali win may be disappointed. Ali vs Holmes and Foreman vs Tyson are the most difficult to envision for me, so I'd go with the presumably longer scrap in Ali vs Holmes. I'll ask the fairy for Foreman vs Tyson next year...
Believe it or not, there was a time when I thought Liston would plow through Holyfield easily. I have since realized the error of my ways. I don't think any heavyweight champion we've seen this far could plow through any 90s version of Holyfield without meeting stiff opposition.
For the longest I automatically assumed Ali would win. Now, I think it'd probably be a closely contested fight. I wouldn't expect any stoppages, but it could come down to an extremely close SD, where the loser and half of those watching genuinely think he was robbed. I have always thought Louis would have stopped the Foremans and Listons of the world. I've always felt a young Mike Tyson would be a deadly adversary for him
http://www.theboxingmagazine.com/joe-louis-vs-sonny-liston/ I think they ran that fight through a computer program and they had Louis winning a 14th round KO after being down twice in the 7th or 8th round. Seemed like a realistic outcome and a realistic way such a fight would likely proceed.
Very tough fight imo to predict. Louis getting knocked down early by James J Braddock.. If he's facing Sonny, would he even make it out of the round!?. The lonhereit goes on the more I'm going for Joe, but it's that early rounds where he'd really have to dig deep.
Oh to right! Could Holmes take the heat from the Smoke? Do we see a replay of FOTC, does Holmes Jab bust up Frazier s face???
I don't know Swag, I reckon perhaps Larry would see the end, he had a solid set of whiskers and plenty of heart. But you know, this is a fight that I really can't ever decide who wins. Joe was great, as imo was Holmes and its a tough one for me.
