Ok they say there isnt excitement in the heavyweight division but the top contenders arent really fighting each other. Eddie Chambers Vs Alexander Povetkin Alexander Dimitrenko Vs Odlanier Solis Chris Arreola Vs Kevin Johnson etc. etc. Have these fights and at least the heavyweight division will start bringing back some attention
We had some good fights recently but not enough: Arreola-Adamek, Peter-Chambers, Dimitrenko-Chambers, Povetkin-Chambers, Fury-Chisora. Now we need more of that. Boytsov-Thompson, Chambers-Kingpin, Fury-Helenius, Fury-Price, Haye-Povetkin, Povetkin-Arreola, Solis-Johnson Ibragimov-Ustinov Ustinov-Fury There are fights to be made, fighters just need hunger to prove that they are better than others, not just fighting bums and wait for a title shot. I cant believe how these things changed over time. In HW division you have maybe a fight or two a year between prospects or contenders. Shame. The division could have been much more interesting if these fights would have happened
WTF? The fights have been and are going to be better than any in the post Lennox era: Wlad-Haye. Crap fight but its the number 1 and number 4 heavy in the world. Vitali-Adamek- Its still on. Number 2 and number 3. Povetkin-Chagaev. Coming up. The undefeated number 5 guy against a former titlist on the rebound. Chisora-Fury. Great fight by two undefeated contenders. Perez wins prizefighter. No one great win here, but was basically a coming out party for guys who had been toted by many for a long time Helenius/ Peter and helenius Lyakocich. Helenius defeated his second titleist in Peter in a very entertaining fight, and is about to go on his third. Stiverne-Austin. Stiverne may be limited, but he can punch. Price- Dallas. Price has stepped it up slightly with some decent wins lately punctuated by fellow undeated Price. Pulev-Guinn. Pulev has had a couple of wins since, but this one made him a contender despite the fact that is was a dull fight. Glaskov-Bahtov. Glaskov is going to be as good a contender as Helenius or Pulev. Believe it. He had two fights fall through, but has two more scheudled, and Bahtov was coming off two big wins against Kretschsmen. Ortiz-Coppper. Yes, Cooper is 46 and lets be honest, not that good in the first place, but it is the coming out party for a 6'4 southpaw with power and 350+ amatuer fights who is always in good shape. This guy is going to be something. Szilpka-Hadziaganovic. Yes, the Bosnian was very limited in experience. But the fact that Szpilka could step out of jail, step up a weight and destroy a fellow undefeated fighter announces his coming. Seth Mitchell- Mike Mollo. Mitchell just beat a decent fighter in Quinn and will now take on a second in Molllo.
These are guys who many dont even know exist. HW division needs bigger name guys to fight each other. Contenders, not prospects only.
They don't but they should. Already contenders Helenius Fury Povetkin Pulev Bermaine Stiverne One or two fights away: Glazkov Perez Ortiz Szpilka Price Seth Mitchel Boytsov Also, if they get serious: Wilder Abdusalamov Joe Hanks Deontay Wilder Dinu Other guys who have recent good wins: Wach Warwyrk Gerber Teper Wallisch Zimnch Ustinov Dimentrenko Char
its time for them to start fighting each other alot more often..eliminators and stuff.instead of seeing the likes of ray austin in 2 elims in a short space of time when he hasnt actually won a fight in a while...chamber vs rossy an elim aswell..i mean its ****ing shocking...time for a change before its to late
Absolutley correct. The problem is that with four sanctioning bodies representing multiple "world" champions (What is a WBA "regular" champon as opposed to a "super" champion, or WBC "emeritus" champion for that matter) no on has to really fight anybody else to get a shot. I mean, even with the recent "unification" there are still going to be three champs once Chag-Povetkin comes off. POST SCRIPT: You post reminded me of Stiverne, whom I am going to retro-actively add to my former posts. Thanks.
