Two of Bowe's closest fights. I've heard people criticize the judges' decisions in both fights but I've never seen a round-by-round scorecard backing that up. Bonus fight: Bowe v. Holyfield I (possibly my all-time favorite heavyweight fight).

I hope that some of you can find the time to rewatch and rescore some of these fights.

I scored Bowe - Tubbbs (I like 10 rounders!). I scored for Bowe 97-93 or 7-3 in rounds. I gave Bowe 1,2,3,5,6,8,10 and Tubbs 4,7,9. Bowe was good on the inside for a tall fighter, but he was also good on the outside. Tubbs was a talented fighter, he had everything as far as speed and skill but he was another of those fighters who seemed to lack confidence in his conditioning. He always seemed to be pacing himself, if he could have used all of his ability without regard for conditioning, he might have won this fight. As it was, Bowe started most rounds fast and Tubbs came on a little toward the end of the round.

I have always thought this fight was close (Holyfield-Bowe 2) and it was, but I scored it heavily for Evander Holyfield. Riddick Bowe just seemed a little behind all the way and I only scored 3 rounds for him, 3,9,12, I scored round 1 EVEN, and scored 2,4,5,6,7,8,10,11 for EH. Most were close rounds, but this time it seemed to me that EH landed the more effective punches and combinations. In a lot of rounds RB could have won the round with just a little more but to me EH was landing better. If I scored it tomorrow I might score it completely different. It disturbs me that my card was so close to the card of Larry Merchant...

Lol I always worry when I agree with him too! Good feedback, man you are fast! I think I have only beat you once or twice...oh well, at least you take the pressure off. Going first can be tough especially in close fights. Hopefully I get mine out tomorrow

I just scored Joe Cortez vs Riddick Bowe & Tony Tubbs!

My Card Cortez dominated the action in 5 Rds, while Bowe & Tubbs took the other 5! I have a draw with Cortez dominating his rounds and Bowe and Tubbs nipping theirs so the fight looks wider than the cards....

But seriously (I do detest Cortez, constantly interjecting himself and his voice dominating the action) I think Bowe won this. I think both guys could have done more, and think there were rounds both let slip away!

    Round by round
    1 Bowe
    2 Even (Bowe 20-19)
    3 Bowe (Bowe 30-28)
    4 Tubbs (Bowe 39-38)
    5 Bowe (Bowe 49-47)
    6 Bowe (Bowe 59-56)
    7 Tubbs (Bowe 68-66)
    8 Bowe (Bowe 78-75)
    9 Tubbs (Bowe 87-85)
    10 Bowe (Bowe 97-94)

I think the only difference we had was I scored 2 even you edged towards Bowe.

    Bowe 97-94

I wish I had 40 minutes to spare. From memory Tubb's quick jab gave Bowe issues, but Bowe did most of the leading. Close but clear for Bowe.

Looking back this was a risky fight for Bowe on his way up. Tubbs, if you don't stop him had fast hands and could box.

I've watched both fights and scored them closely.

    I had Bowe-Tubbs 97-93 for Bowe.

    1 Bowe
    2 Bowe
    3 Bowe
    4 Tubbs
    5 Bowe
    6 Bowe
    7 Tubbs
    8 Bowe
    9 Tubbs
    10 Bowe

    Holyfield - Bowe - 115-114 for Holy.

Can't remember Holy-Bowe exact card despite watching it at least few times lol. Many close rounds, 7th round I scored even. Round 1 and 12 for Riddick.

Just scored Holyfield - Bowe 1. I scored it for Bowe 116-112 or 7-4-1 in rounds. After 9 rounds I had it even at 86-86 or 4-4-1. I gave EH rounds 1,2,5,8, I scored round 7 EVEN, and I gave Bowe 3.4.6.9,10,11(2 points),12. A lot of rounds were close and there was some good in fighting by both fighters. RB was dominant after round 9, but even then EH was fighting hard and landing punches.

EH had an even better left hook than I remembered, short, quick, and accurate. He landed a lot of them throughout the fight. RB's punches seemed to hurt EH more than EH's hurt RD, especially the short right uppercut when he would get an angle to EH's left side. It seemed to be landing without EH seeing it, so it was particularly effective. An excellent fight to watch, couldn't ask for much more. Highly skilled boxers in an exciting fight.

The announcing team was terrible. This fight deserved better.

If any of you have the time, watch and score the first Holyfield-Bowe fight. I didn't remember it being so close, this time when I scored it, I had it even after 9 rounds. Holyfield is one of the toughest fighters I've seen to score, after watching both Bowe fights I'm not sure he lost a "complete" round? Even if he gets hurt early, he comes back hard, his left hook is always there and he recovers quick, and unless I'm forgetting a round, he "wins" part of the round whether he has been hurt, knocked down, or whatever. I've always considered him a "textbook" boxer, but as a "fighter" he is hard to beat. Even the last 3 rounds of the first Bowe fight, he was there fighting, not just holding on. It would be hard to imagine a fighter who didn't have big physical advantages surviving him.

Well brother I love scoring and discussing these fights with you and with only a few exceptions we have seen most of them similar...this is one we see different (not implying that one of us is right or wrong, just that we see it different). My memory told me Holy won comfortably...not so this time.

I found my card mirroring Ledderman’s card, with 2 rounds scored different from him, but ending with the same score as Ledderman...and I must tell you I am no more comfortable agreeing with Ledderman than you are agreeing with Merchant! Anyway onto my card!

    Round by round
    1 Bowe
    2 Holy
    3 Bowe
    4 Bowe
    5 Holy
    6 Holy
    7 Bowe
    8 Holy
    9 Bowe
    10 Holy
    11 Holy
    12 Bowe
    114-114

I scored 2 for Holy (narrow) and Ledderman went Bowe. I scored 7 Bowe Ledderman went Holy. I will say round 7 & 2 are the ones I am most uncomfortable with. I felt Bowe was winning 2 but holy closed good enough that I slid that way. Round 7 I am VERY uncomfortable with. The break in the action made it difficult. I felt Bowe was winning the first minute 15 before birdbrain crashed the ring. I felt Holy took the second half making this very hard for me....I edged Bowe, but am extremely uncomfortable with this round.

I do need to add that I don’t like HW boxing on the whole but I could watch these guys over and over....sheer excitement!!!! Awesome fight
