Shocked myself and scored this one a draw. Would need to rewatch some of the later rounds though, as several looked very close to me. My card was probably generous to Tubbs, so I wouldn't be surprised if I rescored it for Bowe some time. Tubbs was the craftier, smarter fighter and had better reflexes, but he was physically outmatched at this point in his career. A younger, fitter Tubbs just might have been able to pull off the upset against this version of Bowe.

    Bowe-Tubbs: 4-4-2 (96-96)

1: Bowe. He landed the harder punches and clearly won the round, but Tubbs took advantage of his willingness to lean in. Tubbs is such a crafty fighter; was cool under pressure with his back against the ropes, sniping back at Bowe.
    2: Even?
3: Bowe (barely). Tough round to score. Bowe got the best of the early inside exchange, then Tubbs led for most of the rest of the round, landing flashy but weak lead hooks. Bowe landed the hardest punches of the round in the last half minute. Probably enough to bag it.
4: Tubbs. Tubbs outworked and outjabbed him. Bowe mostly following him around and having to reset. Not getting off.
5: Bowe (barely. didn't really accomplish much)
6: Bowe (relatively close but Bowe pulled away with the last several punches of the round)
7: Tubbs controlled more of the round but they both had their moments. Close round that probably could have been even.
    8) Tubbs. Guess I'm an outlier but I thought Tubbs landed more clean punches.
    9) Tubbs had a fast started but gradually faded. Did enough to win the round though.
    10) Even? The exchanges seemed pretty even to me and both landed some clean shots.

Yeah, Holyfield was a true warrior. Also a much better technician than people seem to recognize--he seems to get mislabeled as some kind of brawn-over-brains slugger a lot.

Tubbs is underrated as a technician too. I think they both compare favorably to some of the most celebrated little "heavyweight" technicians of yesteryear, like Charles, Walcott, and Loughran, etc.

@PhillyPhan69 114-114(the only round I went against the consensus on was 7...guess I need to rewatch that? But I found it really difficult. I felt Bowe won the first 1:15 and then the delay...felt Holy took the 2nd half....but went Bowe on a gut feel overall?)

Awesome fight guys! Thanks to all who participated

I remember at the time discussing this bout with my friends and we mostly all agree that it could have been even in rounds but Holyfield won his rounds bigger. Not comfortable with that though because I don't know if he garnered any 10-8s here.
More liberal use of the 10 point must system would have perhaps snuff out any controversy..

I will watch this again tonight when I have more time. Hopefully there is a video that doesnt have George on it. I know Gil Glancy was the original broadcast.
