Last night - depending on the likelihood of any Dubois appeal - might just wreck the heavyweight scene for a long time to come. Hrgovic's management are already pushing for him to get his mandatory in next, probably to try and get in before a rematch is ordered and while Usyk looks a tiny wee bit vulnerable. It's quite possible the WBA might also spot an opportunity and push for Dubois to get another go, who knows when that will be due. In between times Fury will either have to buy out mandatories at a huge cost to get a unification, but he's shown no sign of being that keen. Usyk would probably cash out if he could. Meanwhile AJ-Wilder will probably be the richest fight in the division and the Joyce-Zhang rematch might be for the WBO mandatory slot but it could be miles away. Feels like we'll be back to the belts spread around and held hostage by rival promoters. What says the forum?
To be honest I don't care about the belts but give me AJ v Wilder and ill be happy! Just can't see that disappointing ever. Fury has strategically put his circus fight at the end of October so he won't face a boxer until atleast April 2024 meaning Usyk will have to take another fight in the meantime and age that little bit more.
Can see the previous era's very limited fighters such as Hughie Fury, Joshua and Whyte fighting for one of the vacant belts in the future. Different year, same dumplings being afforded opportunities.
If Usyk chucked it tomorrow we'd have Joyce-Zhang for the WBO and AJ the mandatory after. 110 years between them.
