Inspired by a suggestion by @NoNeck, this is a list of the PEDs that heavyweights have been caught (or admitted) using.

The purpose of this list is to provide a jumping-off point to research the effects of these drugs on performance. That way, we can get a better handle on how much effect these things would have on era vs era fantasy fights.

Rather than trying to look for every PED in the book, we might as well focus on the ones that heavyweights have actually been caught using.

Since this is a work in progress, I'm mostly starting with just the Wikipedia entries as sources. Others are free to add their own material to this thread.

...It would be interesting to look at annual top 10 heavyweight lists from Ring Magazine circa 1995 to 2022, with fighters highlighted in red who failed a drug test at least once as a heavyweight. (You could probably add more if you included heavyweights who failed tests in other weight classes, like Roy Jones.)

From how the Heavyweight landscape has changed as PEDs have come into it, you would think PEDs made you taller and fatter.

And the catch rate is tiny, meaning this is nowhere near a genuine representation of how many are actually using. I imagine there's barely been a clean body since the 90s.

    A couple things:
Gomez claims to have been set up

Ortiz and Thompson were both confirmed to have been using high blood pressure meds for high blood pressure. Ortiz was even on a beta blocker, which would adversely affect cardio.

I probably could also add Ali's use of diuretics before Holmes (which, however, did not help him.)

Ortiz was being prescribed nandrolone for high blood pressure?

If you happen to have any sources on the confirmations (I assume the testing body rescinded its judgment?), it would be an interesting addition to the thread.

I’m talking specifically about his blood pressure meds when was nixed from the Wilder fight and Stiverne stepped in.

    nandrolone is an unrelated incident

I like this let's keep it going. I think a judges thread would be good too in order to track judges and their good/ horrendous decisions

only failed a marijuana test, to my knowledge. (Even though Tyson does remark in one of his interviews that marijuana improves boxing performance.)
