Ok so the heavyweight division is back, supposedly

Who stands the test of time and remains viable if we take them back to the 90s

    In my opinion:

    Fury: Yes
    Klitschko: Yes
    Joshua: Yes
    Wilder: No
    Haye: Yes
    Glaszkov / Martin: 100% no
    Povetkin: Yes
    Pulev: No
    Stiverne: No
    Jennings: No
    Chagaev: No
    Parker: TBA

Genuinely I think the division is interesting again today. But seeing the quality of the world title fights is pretty shocking.

Wilder's fights aren't really world title fights. Neither was Galzkov-Martin. Fury is the champ.

I suppose what I'm saying is:

People say the division is back - if it is then these fights should carry some significance

Take the fighters involved back to an era that did matter and how do they stand up?

Chagaev in his prime is a definite yes! Joshua is no at this point, but give him time and I'd change to yes.

I don't know. I hate to sound like a nostalgic old fart, but I can't see any of these guys that are currently at the top beating the likes of a prime Lewis or Bowe of the 90's. Those guys were really skilled fighters and I think would wipe the floor with the current crop of HW's.

Still, some of these guys could be contenders of back than, I just don't know if they could be true champions (maybe alphabet titlists.)

  6. Bwahahaha!! You IDIOTS
Klit was around in the 90s and was everyone's *****.
He couldn't even beat journeymen like Purrity and Sanders!! Hahaha!
Klit was a B level fighter in 90s
    Morrison
    Ruddock
Rahman (90s Rachman not the shot figher Klit faced)
    Would have destroyed Klit

    Sanders (Terrible journeyman)
    Purrity (Terrible journeyman)

    DESTROYED KLIT.

God forbid a 90s Tua or Ibeabuchi faced Klit, Ibeabuchi would have gone to jail for murdering Klit.
    Keep dreaming.

These are the fighters that would have hung in the 90s and have been competitive
    Fury: Maybe
Klitschko: NO and he had his chance and was knocked out by journeymen of the 90s
    Joshua: Yes
    Wilder: HELL YES
Haye: Would have been a journeymen
    Martin: 100% YES
Povetkin: Hell NO, lost to Klit, BADLY, he would have been like a Maskaev
    Pulev: No
    Stiverne: No
    Jennings: No
    Chagaev: No
    Parker: Yes
    Ortiz: HELL YES
    Rivas: HELL YES

I love posters like this. Confidence enough to slap everyones opinions into the dirt whilst holding their own to the high heavens.

You talk about "not shot Rahman" but decide to only consider green Klit - come on now friend, be fair. I think Lewis beats prime Klit but the idea that W Klit at his best is no better than a top 10 contender in the 90s is laughable

Seriously though, thanks for the input

Interested in your support of Martin

Perhaps you missed out. Wlad hired Emanuel Steward who famously changed his style, exactly as he had previously done for Lewis, and Wlad went on to make 18 successful title defenses.

It was kind of a big deal at the time. Surprised you didn't know.

  9. GREEN KLIT???
Klit lost to both Journeymen at the same point in his career as Wilder is now. Klit was at above 25 fights when he lost to those bums. Wilder is at that same point and WINNING.

  10. Steward taught Klit to clinch and then the 2ks roll around and we have the WORST HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION IN HISTORY, SO BAD THAT A B LEVEL fighter like Klit can become champion.

But in the 90s, Klit was not good enough to even beat journeymen.

He taught Wlad to figth tall, same as Lewis. The division wasn't as bas as the 80's, when the main gusy were fat drug addicts, lorded over by Larry Holmes, who openly ducked some of them.

  13. he was at his 25th fight you moron

Only goes to show he was mismanaged early in his career and doesn't change the fact that he'd been pro for less then two years you utter imbecile.

This is one of the worst threads I've ever seen. Povetkin would get destroyed by Wilder
