Heavyweight - Superheavyweight?

First off, Marciano, dempsey, and everyone else would be weight training, which adds pounds. Second, they had big guys then, but they did not win titles.

Also, if Klits fought in 1960's, they would weight a lot less due to not using weight training. Same for all other fighters of today.

They win because of the skill level for their size.

Look at other massive men in the ring, where are they?. Look at Usain Bolt, being large doesn't instantly make you fast - you need that extra ingredient, which these two have.

 

The Klitschkos are highly skilled big men. Size means dick without skill. Look at Dimitrenko. He's slightly taller than Wlad and has a slightly longer reach, yet he got clowned by a blown up CW in Chambers. Wlad nearly killed Chambers after subjecting him to death by a thousand cuts for 12 rounds.

 

I hate the idea of a Super Heavyweight Division.

 

If they were 200lbs they would be CW/LHWs. The most boxers who weigh less than 220lbs should be able to cut to CW if they wanted, so whats the problem? We don't need more divisions

 

We need less titles, not less divisions.

One Division should = one undispitued Champion

 

This sort of reach advantage is why a super heavyweight division is needed. In the past, first of all individuals were smaller in general, and 2nd there weren't any super heavyweight boxers on the skill and conditioning level of the Klitschkoes. These tall guys like Price and Fury are the future champions of the heavyweight (really super heavyweight) division. Even if these guys turn out to be chumps, somebody else with size and skill at 240+ will take up the mantle.

 

Agree with that sentiment except for the heavyweight division, which fluctuates between 200-320 lbs and where we see absurd size disparities.

 

They don't want to make a 225lb division as cutting weight makes boxers more vulnerable to injury and at that weight with that power it can be dangerous. Unfortunetly Cruiser weight has never caught on which is a shame.

 

In my opinion 200lbs is the light heavyweight of today.

 

**** those slobs and unskilled "boxers" at heavyweight. I stop watching them and CW a long, long time ago. If none of them can work on their skills long enough to become a solid B fighter to make a decent fight against the bros . . . the hell with them.

 

Make Cruiserweight at 215

 

I agree with this. Max weight of 220 or so.

 

It's perfect as it is now. I enjoy seeing smaller heavyweights triumph and I like the idea of smaller guys fighting at CW and HW. Marco Huck is fun to watch and he will be back at hw in the future. Steve Cunningham is coming up too. Chambers beat the 240 pound Sam Peter and the huge Dimitrenko.
