No he didn't. And based on what? I know it's your opinion and your certainly entitled to it. But what are you basing it on.? Sports writers of that era? Same sports writers who would've thought it was ok for him not to give minorities a shot? Hell, we don't know if he was the best heavyweight of his own era. What little film I've seen on him, and their is of him didn't show anything that a fighter like a prime Louis or especially a prime Ali would have to fear or Marciano,Liston,Holmes, and quite a few other championship AND contenders the last 60 yrs. In his prime he had losses to men under 5'10 fighting around 160/ 170 lbs. Now were to believe he would've been a serious threat to a Louis or Ali?

Many who saw both Dempsey and Louis live thought that Dempsey would stop the Bomber. Dempsey never lost to any 160/170 pounders when he was prime ,[if you are referring to Meehan Dempsey was pre prime.] BTW Perry is no longer with us,hasnt been for a few months now.

When Marshall was rated at Light-Heavyweight, then doesn't count the wins over middleweights as La Motta (who's significant smaller), Yarowicz, Abraham and Burley, as these were no light-heavyweights.

Bivins destroyed Marshall in 1943; therefore can't be the later one at the top of the division in 1943 and 1944 as you pretended.
While he was placed there (only) during the second world war, when most top boxers were obligated to do the military service.
By the way who shall be ranked around 2000/ 2001 ahead of Grigorian, besiedes Castillo?:dunno

From you "arguments" are 95% wrong or rather proven barfaced (saucy) lies: You write more fake-news than Bush and Trump publishing (it seems you are related to baron Münchhausen).

It never fails to astonish me how much you DON'T know about boxing, and when being informed of certain facts you still refuse to accept them. Here is just one example.
When Lamotta signed to fight Marshall he stipulated that Marshall had to weigh in at no heavier than161pounds
if he did he would pay a forfeit of $5000.
Marshall made the weight and won the fight clearly. Lamotta got a purse of $25,312.80, Marshall $5000.
In June of that year The Ring named Marshall as the greatest fighter pound 4 pound then active in the world.
When Marshall fought Yarosz,Abrams, and Burley it was at level weights. Try and remember this .
No charge for the lesson. Now its Kentucky Cobra's turn to rip you to pieces.

This just shows The Ring is no reliable source in terms of rankings (especially when Robinson was active and Louis still near his peak).

So when he's rated as middleweight, I don't count his success against light-heavyweights nor vice versa.

Well that proves how poor and ridiculous these rankings are, not only that there wasn't included the champion: This is like having Kölling at the top, but don't rating Bertebijew at all.

While in the middle of the second world war, how many boxer were active at Light-Heavyweight, perhaps 300? And how many were it in Lightweight during Grigorians reign, maybe about 1200?
