You do not win a LPR fight by KO, you win when your opponent fails to come up to scratch and toe the line...

And clearly as they are fights to the finish, you do not win a LPR fight on points!!!

How in the world is this a possible conclusion?

Tyson didnt have a bad chin. In fact, many say it was iron. But Fitz had lethal power, by any standards. And with or without gloves, he could KO anyone. He has KOd them bigger than tyson, and he has KOd guys with chins ranked as solidly as Tyson (Sharkey). Obviously, some people rate the skills advancement an insurmountable challenge, and others think (in my opinion incorrectly) tyson has power, strength and speed in another league and Tyson is a class above. And while i do not say that Tyson had a poor chin, surely, of all the reasons for Tyson to win, Tyson being unshaken by Fitz' power is one of the last on the list, isnt it?

Anyway, back to the prediction. In many ways, these two fighters are mirror images of each other in many, many areas. Neither was a big fighter, in fact both were small compared to their heavyweight opposition. From a glance, both should have been totally overpowered. However, both could hit and time their kos in an absolutely uncanny way and their power to weight ratio really was unbelievable because of it. both were also incredibly fast for the heavyweight division. I think that Tyson probably was the faster (though i am not sure of this). I think Tyson may have had slightly more KO power (though i base this only on his weight and i think that this is only prime Tyson who has the advantage which is so slight that it doesnt really matter). I think Tyson, when you think about it has a slight advantage in every department, though the more you read about Fitz, the less the advantage seems to be. IN a gloved fight, stylistically this is a bad match up for Fitz, because that advantage i think would extend to work rate and Tyson coudl wear him down.

But, there is two area where Fitz has an advantage in this LPR fight. One is caginess and improvisation, where he is on another league to Tyson while the other is experience with these rules. I see Fitz fighting very defensively early on in the fight, and gaining the upper hand when Tyson who would fight flat out (like he did with Mitch Green) breaks and hurts his hands early. This would allow Fitz to pick his spots and finish very, very song with Tyson's sore or broken hands costing him the fight. Fitzsimmons KO 8 after25 minutes.

    Tyson.

At some point, massive physical advantages and abnormal skill under MQ Rules overcomes specialized knowledge of 19th century boxing.

The first round could last for hours.

You are efectivley predicting that only one knockdown will take place and that the fallen fighter will be down for 30 seconds plus.

    Actually, a plausible result.

Tyson knocked another top boxer out in a street fight, if I recall correctly. Might have broken his hand in the process, but it doesn't matter if the opponent is unconscious.

    Mitch Green?

And I do not think Green would not of been able to come up to scratch if need be, from what I remember of the incident.

But the scenario is indeed plausible, if unlikely.

What would Tyson good as a LPR fighter IMO, is that his small powerful stature, would make it very hard for him to be thrown. But that dynamic punching although an excellent tool in Queensberry rules, could be a bit of a curse in LPR.

For starters no one who was any good throw hooks in LPR, it would be far too risky for their hands. Also an uppercut on the inside, to the jaw is going to have hand issues. Tyson would have to develop a new attack.

I have never yet seen anybody try to predict how many knockdowns would be needed to produce a ten count in even the most mismatched queensbury bout.

A sensible person just wouldn't venture a guess.

It does if he is unconscious for less than 30 seconds!

There are varying reports of the tyson green street fight. One version has mitch with a bloodied face, but no KO.

Well, he has already put Muhammed Ali down for the thirty seconds in this tournament :yep

And it is prime fitz, so his weight is 158, not 167!

He may not need to punch him or even put him down. Tyson will have two broken hands after the first round (see Mitch Green fight for proof) and Tyson is not going to handle the more liberal (but not unlimited) LPR rules. Tyson could easily foul out (see Holyfield fight). Or Wear out (see several of his fightst that went the distance). In contrast, Fitz is proven in all facets, including getting up from brutal knock downs.

I can believe and accept Tyson predictions, but i would like to know how people think he does in round 2 or even round 3 or 4 when a groggy fitzsimmons is able to swing and land freely, while Tyson has to pull his punches due to his broken hands. Fitz has a much better chance than people think. When has Tyson demonstrated KO Power in later rounds, much less after 30 minute first round. In fact, i will go so far as to say if Tyson doesnt end round one in the first 5 minutes he is in serious trouble.

If Fitz knows this, he will smother and wrestle and fight very defensively which will wear tyson out twice as fast. Fitz should add Tyson's scalp to that of Ali's.
