6 heavyweight prospects/fringe contenders with decent records, in some kind of organised tournament to generate some impetus in the division and create 1 or 2 new stars or title contenders. Which fighters would you nominate?
I'd personally like to see 6-10 fringe contenders get it on to see which 3-4 are legit top 20 HWs and which need to go back to the drawing board. Banks Mitchell Johnson Welliver Rodriguez Wach Boystov Fury Wilder Witherspoon Hanks Price 1st Rd Fury Welliver - Welliver outworks the big man winning a 7-3 UD Banks Rodriguez- el Nino, down on the cards, catches Banks with a L hook KO 7 Johnson Mitchell- Mitchell all over Johnson by the 5th KO5 Boystov Wach- Wach can't catch Boystov, but his agressive style wins barely SD Wilder- Too big, too strong, too fast...down on points, KO 8 Hanks Price Witherspoon- Chazz upping the tempo outhustles Price to a UD
Amir Mansour Mike Perez Vyacheslav Glazkov Deontay Wilder Tyson Fury Helenius Fury vs Glazkov Helenuis vs Wilder Perez vs Mansour
Fury Helenius Price Wach Perez Povetkin I chose unbeaten prospects. I know Povetkin isn't a prospect but I couldn't think of any other unbeaten prospects i'd like to include in a tournament like this. Fury and Helenius meet in the final. If Fury improves his defense then I take Fury on points, if not then i choose Helenius by K'O.
Rd 2 Welliver-too many punches, the ref steps in..TKO 8 Witherspoon Rodriguez-Find the rangey fighter early KO3 Wilder Wach Mitchell- Catches the big man square on his chinX10, and finally the ref jumps in TKO 6 Fury Boystov- finds the big man chin, and doesn't let off the gas KO2 Banks Price- lands the bomb late, down on the cards TKO 9 Johnson Hanks- early power punch puts Johnson on the backfoot UD
I go; Povetkin Fury Wach Boytsov Seth Mitchell Amir Mansour As much as i hate to say it there would have to be an American or two to get any decent money into the compotition. Super six anyone?
Rd3 Witherspoon- too active, too slick SD Boystov Wilder- strong punches on questionable chin KO5 Hanks Price Wach- wins the battle of the giants-UD10 Off Welliver Rodriguez Mitchell
Rd4 Witherspoon Wach-catches him with a big one late KO9 Wilder Rodriguez- finds the chin early KO4 Welliver Mitchell- ref jumps in during unanswered assault TKO 7 Rd5 Mitchell- out bombs the bomber KO 6 Rodriguez Wach Welliver- taking all Wach can throw, Wach tires and get caught in a barrage TKO 10
Rd 6 Semifinal Rodriguez- Welli takes everything the puncher can throw, but doesnt ever hurt the Mexican Champ- SD Welliver Mitchell- power punches early and often KO3 Wach Final Rodriguez- el Nino has his redemption in a rematch....catches Mitchell early and doesn't relent.....KO2 Mitchell
