Second round. "Gentleman Jim" versus the tough Australian Les Darcy. Corbett outboxed the fiery Firpo in the first round. Boxing against Darcy, Who defeated a game Henry Cooper in the first round.

Please give reason for prediction. Please give predicted result.

I am open to being swayed by any Darcy fanatics on this one. But at this stage, i dont see how. Corbett was a bona fide world champion. He was KOd by a middleweight, though it wasnt any middleweight, it was the greatest middleweight ever. Darcy 's best win was probably over George Chip, who was coming off a newspaper decision over Harry Greb (his second). Still, according to boxrec at least (my failing memory suggests otherwise) greb had never really fought a bonafide heavyweight. In any case, he certainly had never fought one as good as Corbett.

I think that Corbett is to big, too strong and too fast for Darcy. He knocks him out by the 9th.

Why is Darcy here? Corbett wins.

Within the past few months, there were a number of threads. Where posters were stating how good Darcy was. This is there chance to see how he would stack up in a head to head situation.

I know but wouldnt it have been easier to include Monzon or Greb?

I don't see why.... and people here are overestimating Corbett's weight advantage, Jim was more like a Light-Heavyweight.
