Madison Square Garden is the site for this Co-main event, for round two of the Tournament. Ferocious Jack Dempsey will be facing the great boxer Max Schmeling. Gene Tunney will be squaring off against toughman George Chuvalo in the second bout. George tries to rush out & smother Tunney, keeping the action close as possible. Tunney is elusive & peppers Chuvalo with quick counters & a hard jab. Chuvalo tries to force the action, but cannot find Tunney. Gene does a beautiful job outboxing Chuvalo. In the later rounds George is still coming foreward, despite taking a great amount of punches. Tunney is a little stronger on the inside as Chuvalo had anticipated. Everything George had tried & he could not come up with a solution for Tunney. GENE TUNNEY . 12 DEC. GEORGE CHUVALO. Max is sticking & moving, trying to keep the "Manassa Mauler' at bay. Dempsey comes in to the attack. Max tries to counter, but punches are coming in, in bunches! Schmeling backs away to clear his head! In the early going Max is jabbing & moving. Dempsey furiously attacks, Schmeling staggers back hurt! Max moves around & survives. In the sixth, the pressure is too much, a hard Dempsey combination hurts Max yet again! A left hook drops Max! He beats the count & Jack is all over him! Max's corner throws in the towel, but the referee is already stepping in! JACK DEMPSEY . 6 TKO. MAX SCHMELING.
