    I agree with everything said here. Except. Since Dempsey twice signed to fight Wills, how exactly did he duck him? And one of these times it was Wills who did not meet the word of the contract, not Dempsey.

    And again, I ask, is this revisionism awarding Wills a victory over Dempsey without them meeting in the ring? Is certainly sounds this way to me.

    Seamus: ment you no disrespect. I totally agree that Dempsey feared no man. However, the Wills case is hard to ignore. The man was his number one contender his whole reign. It is hard to ignore. Of course I believe Kearns and Rickard wanted no part of the match but Jack could have stood up and he did not. I do not hand the fight to Wills as Dempsey was a terror and a good deal younger than Harry but without question Harry fought and defeated far better fighters and was a much bigger man.

    I didn't read all of the recent posts, but Dempsey did fear Langford.
