"Gentleman" Jim Corbett will be facing off in a huge challenge against Vitali Klitschko. Corbett has had a rather easy time of it thus far, winning handily over Luis Angel Firpo & Les Darcy. Is now in for the struggle of his life with Klitschko, who has also advanced with dominate victories over Bob Fitzsimmons & Tommy Burns.

Please give reasoning for prediction. Please give Predicted result.
    Round 3. 15 Rounds.

What a stinker this would be?
Corbett can't hurt the giant and Vitali is disinclined to try and hurt him.

Eventually, after a couple of rounds of Corbett's harmless scamperings around the ring ,the Ukrainian realises, that he has nothing to fear and begins to cautiously wing a few.Corbett was kod by a body shot from a super middle weight, albeit a very hard hitting one, around the 4 th round ,with the crowd booing both men ,Vitali lands a sweeping left to the body, and launches Corbett up into the over head lights ,where he is counted out.

Vitali by 5th round stoppage ,too many physical advantages.

Corbett was 6' 1". He defeated bigger men John L. Sullivan & Peter Jackson. Well, Drew with Jackson...

Vitali WPTS. I don't think he would stop Corbett, Corbett was tough and smart. Vitali would win a dull one wide.

No,no offense. A good point. Klitschko is very big, a huge obsitcal for the early fighters to overcome. Although Corbett did well with bigger men. this is a huge weight differential.

This is a tough one. I think Vitali is probably the favourite. But, he has never fought anyone as elusive as corbett. The closest he has fought was Chris Byrd and while he looked decent in that fight, he tore a rotator cuff, chasing him. If the same happens here, history suggests a Corbett win.

The key for corbett is how to get underneath the jab of vitalis. If he finds a way to do this regularly , then he wins the fight, because Vitali is very open with the one handed guard that he employs. Problem is, i cant see a way around it at this stage. Corbett does some great and underated work in close, but i struggle to see him controlling the clinches in these cases with Vitali. He might, but it would seem a tough task. I may change this later, but at this stage i think that Vitali wins a points decision in a close fight where neither is in too much trouble, but Vitalis size strength and jab is is the difference.

Of course Corbett would be victorious. With his gumption and guile, factors which have deteriorated since the 1800's, he would quickly befuddle Vitali into an 1890's Hurricane of Anarchronistic Technique!

No doubt over in 5 set-to's. And bring on William "The Prussian" Sherriff to win the entire Tourney!
