Just for fun, I was thinking about Holyfield the other day and how he's the most difficult heavyweight for me to place historically. Now, top 10 heavyweight placement is HUGELY subjective but there are a number of reasonable potential top 10 heavies and many that are agreed upon by consensus. So let's ask who has the best record against potential top 10 heavies? Holyfield-4-1-1 4 wins (holmes, foreman, 2x tyson), 1 draw (lewis), 1 loss (lewis) Ali-5-2 5 wins (2x frazier, foreman, 2x liston), 2 losses (holmes, frazier) Marciano-3-0 3 wins (louis, 2x charles) Now of course there's a context to all the wins (and losses) but who do you think takes this one? Or are there any names missed?
it has no validity, because marciano did not beat prime louis holyfield did beat grandfather holmes and grandfather foreman(he would lose against both in their prime), tyson wasn´t in his prime exactly. liston wasn´t in his prime when he faced ali. prime frazier did beat ali(not prime)
well that's kinda the idea. context has to be taken into account, holyfield's wins were against VERY old versions of holmes and foreman and a past prime tyson but ali's were against a relative prime frazier, prime foreman and post prime but still dangerous liston. based on respective primes and such, whose record is most impressive?
