ive wondered that myself, guessing I would say that to get licenced the board wanted heavys to face each other as long as there wasn't too huge of a weight differential with the assumed thinking that if some smaller guy got his neck snapped in the ring it would look bad?? lol ,,, the board didn't want head butts, kicking a downed opponent etc so im guessing it was just another stipulation that they felt made it safer, personally I would love to see a fantastic 220lber go against a decent 320er like happened in the old days.
Agree there should not be a heavyweight upper limit. If anything it is a disadvantage to be weighing 280 + in any sporting contest where cardio is always a big factor. Irrespective of weight for heavyweights the key is always the well rounded skills of the fighters imo. Just look at how small Fedor was as a heavy.
