Take the top 5 fighters of each decade. Feature the years in that decade, when you consider each man was at his best, and match each one up against all 5 from the opposing decade, and see who comes out on top. On a league basis. 2 points for a win,i for a draw, and obviously none for a loss.

Obviously,we'll all have our own ideas who was the top 5 in each deacade, but on the whole,I should think it's consensual.

    Hm,

    70s
    Ali
    Foreman
    Frazier
    Norton
    Quarry

    90s
    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Bowe
    Tyson
    Moorer

    Ali
LUD Lewis (60s Ali would beat him but I think 70s Ali lacks the mobility)
    WUD Holyfield
    WUD Bowe
    WUD Tyson
    WTKO Moorer

    Foreman
    WKO Lewis
    LUD Holyfield
    WKO Bowe
    WKO Tyson
    WKO Moorer

    Frazier
    LKO Lewis
    WUD Holyfield
    WTKO Bowe
    WTKO Tyson
    WKO Moorer

    Norton
    LKO Lewis
    LTKO Holyfield
    WUD Bowe
    LKO Tyson
    WTKO Moorer

    Quarry
    LKO Lewis
    LTKO Holyfield
    LTKO Bowe
    LTKO Tyson
    WUD Moorer

    records:
    Ali: 4 (1) - 1
    Foreman: 4( 4) - 1
    Frazier: 4 (2) - 1
    Lewis: 4 (4) - 1
    Holyfield: 3 (2) - 2
    Tyson: 2 (2) - 3
    Norton: 2 (1) - 3
    Quarry: 1 (0) - 4
    Bowe: 1 (1) - 4
    Moorer: 0 (0) - 5

Just a quick go. I guess you could include Holmes in the 70s instead of Quarry but I see Holmes more of an 80s fighter.

See what you mean about Holmes. He was post heavyweight golden age,as he did n't feature prominently until 1978. He made his name in the following decade.

  6. not even in dreams holyfield would go more than 5 rounds against a prime george foreman, foreman by tko in 4

tyson would have annihilated joe frazier

    InMemoryofJakeLamotta likes this.
  8. i am not sure on it, if joe survive more than 5 rounds he would win for sure, joe was stronger late. he was armstrong in the hw.this fight in my opinion is 50% vs 50%.. tyson early or joe late.

80s Tyson, perhaps, given that Frazier is a slow nad Tyson a fast starter. 90s´ Tyson no way.

I am not sure about the top five fighters you have chosen for each decade.

I probably would not have picked Norton as the last name on the 70s list, if I were aiming to get the highest possible score for that decade. Tactiacaly, Jimmy Young or Jerry Quarry might be a safer choice.

I also probably would not have picked the older George Foreman as one of the names on the 90s list. Again, I could probably find sombody else would would make a better tactical choice.

To make it more interesting, one person could pick the 70s list and another could pick the 90s list, without seeing the others list.

  11. but i can´t understand it,i respect your opinion but according to you tyson might not ko quarry but lewis could do it?
really i think that quarry would not be knocked out. quarry might give lewis, tyson, bowe or evander the hell of their lifes

  12. frazier would ko tyson 90s

  13. earnie shavers or young would be a good choice. a prime shavers with a single shot could ko tyson, bowe, lewis and even holyfield.
bowe, lewis or even evander might look like amateurs, boxing against a prime and motivated young76

The heavyweights have gotten worse than the 1970's but bigger. Hard to compare. That division is hard to really rate.

  15. i don´t think that they were bigger in the 90s, lewis in his 20s weighed 220-230 pounds in 6´5, bowe weighed 225-235 in 6´5 in his prime, they weighed +240 later because they trained weights.. but old foreman trained weights and he weighed 257 pounds..
the 70s hws did not have modern advantages in nutrition and they did not train with weights. george foreman weighed 217-232 in 6´3 1/2 without modern advantages. i think that prime liston(60s), prime frazier, lyle ,foreman.. they would have been much heavier in the 90s.
frazier and foreman had very big bones, joe had the legs of a super hw, joe was not heavier because he did not want. foreman weighed 226-230 pounds in his amateur career, in his early pro career he did work his speed and he fought with less weight.bowe and lewis were a bit taller but george was naturally stronger,he was more solid ,ron lyle was very strong and very muscular and he never trained weights he was 6´3 and 220 pounds of pure muscle. 29 years old holyfield was 6´2 and 209 pounds in his prime in 1991. 28 years old joe frazier weighed 2171/2 pounds against stander and 210 pounds against foster , frazier was 5´11. ali 70s weighed 221 pounds in 1973 against norton, 216 against foreman,227 against buster mathis,224 against lyle. he was 6´3. the best tyson weighed 216 against holmes and 218 against spinks. he was 5´11.
