He brought us decades of great fights. What have Al hayom or Eddie Hearn ever did?

He ripped fighters off and kept Tyson away from Holyfield for a year when he was mandatory No.1, you had to sign to agree that King hasd options on you before you could challenge for Tyson`s title.

It's fun and exciting because you have a bunch of mediocrities who are on the same level give or take.
There's no A level fighters at HW (Usyk has potential but he's just getting started).

It’s very competitive right now I agree, but the talent is definitely not as good.

There are no boxers with the skill and power of Lennox Lewis right now.

Nobody knows how good Tyson Fury is right now, is performance against Wilder was very poor.

Wilder has power but lacks so much skill I find it hard to support him. I want boxers to be good at what they do, not get outboxed by guys outside the top 20.

Joshua is as close to LEWIS as we have got, but is definitely not as skilled as Lewis, or even Bruno.

Ruiz, like Fury nobody really knows how good this guy is yet, could be the start of something great after heating Joshua, could turn in to a one hit wonder. Guess we will find out soon.

I think he got a lot of fighters paid better than they ever could have been paid on their.
People love to say 'oh he ripped so and so off' but magically always forget to mention all of the up front costs that King (and all promoters) have to pay before a fight ever even takes place.

It's a hell of a lot more that any fighter would be able to pay for.

Man, I don’t want to sound old but this might be the worst crop of HW champs we’ve seen in a long time. None of these guys would be wearing a belt in the 90’s or 80’s. Remember when lots of guys were saying Wilder and AJ would beat smaller champs of the past? Then Dough boy Ruiz came along and KOd the body builder Adonis? Some big strong guys at HW but they all have huge holes in their arsenal. Probably the weakest class we’ve seen in a long time.

The new guys like Hrzegovic, DDD, Dychko, Usyk, Jalolov and the other big Caucasus guy are a stronger bunch then current fighters.

The whole point of this thread was about how deep and competitive and entertaining the division. Not that todays HWs beat some other era.

We just had 15 years of some of the worst, most uncompetitive HW boxing chalk full of no hope retread title challengers.

All that has changed these last 4 years and looking good for the future

Oliver McCall and Bruno wouldn`t be champs today and the WBO champs in the 90`s were crap aside from Vitali who desrtoyed Hide easily because he couldn`t take a heavyweight punch yet was the WBO champ by beating the awful Michael Bent.

in that case, I totally agree with you! We can finally look forward to some good matchups in the HW division. A short time ago, I didn’t think it was possible. You are correct and my comment was out of place. There is something about the HW division that I like. Seeing those big guys throwing bombs or moving like Fury is really special. Also, it would not surprise me to see any of the top five on top. Can you imagine how great a HW tournament would be? Would put boxing back on the map. Just a dream but today’s crop of HWs is fun to watch for the most part.

Okay, I’m rethinking my response. I agree with you, that was a really dead era. HW boxing is improving. Decent era.
