Between Lennox Lewis, Vladimir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko and now Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder it seems a common belief that a heavyweight must be 6'5" or above to be a dominant champion. Can somebody closer to Mike Tyson, Chris Byrd and Evander Holyfield size dominate the division?

Size can make a difference but Lewis and both Klitschkos have lost to much shorter fighters. But it obviously doesn't mean a shorter fighter can't beat them. Another example; Chagaev vs Valuev and Adamek vs Grant.

Wilder is only 225-230. He isn't a SHW.

It doesnt matter who's lost too who this is BOXING,where a punch can land and end someones wins.

Size is very important, just look at the dominant era champions who had the most success ,and im not talking one or two fights that show otherwise( thats B.S ) ....lol.....Im talking about guys like Ali and even Joe Louis who had the size advantage alot ( these are guys you call small) i have no idea why? they would be small in THIS era.

Besides Mike Tyson theres really been no dominant HW under 6'0 tall.

    so theres your answer!

Unless you are using the outrageous Mike Tyson argument ( i love when ppl do that...:babeando: ) you will see how Size is important. Just look at Listons run even against far smaller guys.

Statistics show the heavier guy usually wins, thats why weight classes were created! No, you cant overate size!

Most guys over 6ft5 have glass jaws. Look at Wilder and Joshua. Both can't take a punch . Another way to break a taller man down is go to the body. I think Jarrell Miller will beat Wilder and Joshua. Miller is build lime a truck and has a good chin and knows how to go to the body. Wilder is damn lucky he got out of his fight with Ortiz. Ortiz would have stopped Wilder within 5 rounds. It seems the WBC is looking out for Wilder giving him easy fights. How the hell is Stiverne the mandatory again? Wilder and Joshua will never happen because one of them is going to get knocked out soon. Wilder fights bums for a reason. His chin is pure eggshell.

Of course a smaller guy could dominate the division. The problem today is the cruiserweight division has all of the talented smaller heavyweights. If the cruiserweight division were dissolved today guys like Usyk, Gassiev, Dorticos, and Lebdev would be forced to fight at heavyweight and would provide a lot of talent to the division. Huck and Cunningham were able to compete at heavyweight just fine.

Size really helps, but it is not everything. Julius Long was 7 feet tall and he got knocked out many times...............

Ah yes I forgot about Joshuas glass jaw... That's why he was out cold from Wlads big right hand... Oh he got up from that and went on to win the fight...? Damn it can't possibly be glass then!

And no way Miller beats Joshua.... If you think that YDKSAB.

There will be a resurgence of smaller heavyweights when the top cruisers move up cause they want to make money.

No one boxer under 6 foot 5 has actually held the title for any meaningful amount of time. WK, VK, Fury, Joshua, Lennox, Wilder, even Parker to a lesser extent is 6 foot 4. The Giants have essentially held the heavyweight division hostage for 25 years. That's not saying a Tyson like fighter can't take and hold the title its just we haven't seen one with the skills good enough to beat the giants for a loooooooong time now.
