What do you mean by technical skills? Lewis and both Klitschko have excellent skills.

Do you limit "technical skill" to esthetically pleasing inside-fighting?

So in this world, a guy like Ali didn't have skills.
I'm not particulary the biggest Ali fan, but I don't really agree with this at all.

Without trying to knock on Ali, skills-wise he wasn't that technically great. He relied alot more on his natural talent than boxing skills.

Later in his career he started to absorb more punches as his speed and agility diminished. If it wasn't for his iron clad chin he may have racked up quite few more losses on his record.

Good current example would be Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins: Take away their natural ability and it's obvious to see who relied on their natural talent and who relied on boxing skills.

haha should be rule #1 on the ESB terms of conditions for people who are new to the forum

Rule #2 of course would be to side with Pacquiao or Mayweather

They both have very good skillsets.Lewis had a great arsenal of punches when he used them,he had a great jab, right hand, hook and uppercut and all his punches .His combination punching and was underrated to,Watch the Mercer fight and you will see some of the great combos he was able to put together. He had a good defense too with a nice high guard and an ability to use his height to keep himself away from a smaller mans punches.

Klitschko also has a good skillset to even though its not as good as Lewis's imo.He also knows how to use his height to his advantage defenesively. He has a great jab,Right hand, hook and can hook off the jab which is unusual for a heavyweight to do.Hes a master at controlling the distance at which a fight is fought as was Lewis

So you excluded..Walcott, Conn, Charles, Byrd, Schemling, Sharkey, Bivins, Moore, Wlad, Lewis,..etc....

but Tubbs and Witherspoon? Why not Notron? Witherspoon was just Norton with breast implants and a poor work ethic.

**** You! I guess the 80s and 90s were the apex of the skillful heavyweights.

I would never suggest Ali didn't have any technical skills, of course you can't just simply rely on speed just like you can't rely on a big punch, or being tall or whatever.

His skillset almost exclusively relies on his natural ability. You don't get too many trainers trying to teach up and coming fighters to fight like Ali or RJJ.
