Who would win this tournament of up n comers. Mitchell Helenius Wach Welliver Chisora Pulev Boystov Fury Gerber Perez
I threw the healthy part in there. Obviously Helenius has the biggest wins over the toughest LOC and he so mostly in dominating fashion. That is while he was healthy. Coming into the Chisora fight with a torn labrum very well may have ended his one promising career. But if he comes back healthy, I got him to beat everyone on the list with Mitchell a close second.:deal
I got Pulev, but all of these guys have flaws. I think Pulev is the best right now, but I like Glazkov an Fury the best long-term. Price has been coming on well lately too. Pulev is no worse than any of the rotating "champs" in the mid to late '90s though. Power and aggression are weaknesses, but he has the size and the skill.
If Solis were rehabbing or even talking about coming back I would have included him. He has some huge wins on par with Helenius, but where the hell is he?:tired
I swapped Glasgkov and Boystov from the lists since I couldn't make the poll bigger than the 10. I think a healthy Boystov could make some noise in the Blevel, but we have seen him step into it, YET. Glasgkov was prepared to fight Sam Peter last fall, but the Nightmare backed out due to lack of training time. I think Samuel feels if he is going to become a Euro stepping stone, he'd best get the $$$ and time to prepare that a former champion deserves.:bbb
Pulev seems to be getting better each fight. And like Wach, he may just be a late bloomer who hasn't yet come into his power. The announcement of the EBU vacant title should be announced soon. I have heard that Dimitrenko feels he should be allowed to PICK his opponent. Whereas Pulev is poised to fight whoever. Any word from Boystov if he has officially declined the invitation? Is Fury officially out of the running for that title shot? IMO, we'll get Fury/Pulev/Dimitrenko for that fight. Insert either name against either and we got a great fight that will answer many questions irt to who is the next legit challenger to the K2 from Europe. I think Helenius is a year away from returning to the big stage. At this point he should look for a few soft opponents while focusing on working his legs and upper body. Maybe Alexander, Sprott, or Bydenko again. That Petkovic is right up his alley as well for a comeback fight. Easy pickings for Helenius.
Looks like Pulev and Dimitrenko for the EBU title. I think this is the fight where Pulev displays his power.:deal
