Hector hands down the greater fighter...but perhaps the size issue brings them a little closer. Pre-coke Taylor, in my eyes, had some semblance of a special fighter. Thoughts?
Interesting Rock. You might have answered it in your question - 'Taylor, in my eyes, had some semblance of a special fighter'. Was fortunate to have seen Hec first hand, as I'm guessing you were also, and he was a special fighter. Only evener here is weight. Hec had most success at light and light welter. If you put some extra kgs on a peak, early to mid 70's Hec, I reckon he'd beat Taylor pts.
hec would have destroyed taylors peekaboo style. to easy to hit. hec was a murderous puncher, literally. over real early. .
Had a think about this one last night. Hard to imagine Hec facing off to a 6' W/W. Cervantes was hardly a short man all the same. Taylor was a bloody big W/W with a heap of brute. The body punches offered from both men would be pleasing to the crowds, but the range difference would be a disturbance for Hec over 12 rounds IMO. If Taylors nose was CLEAN, and Hecs' ankles were taped accordingly, this bout would be a sensation. The W/W limit would be well in favour of Taylor. God knows what he weighed come fight time at any Wooloongong event.
