Good thread. Camacho when he wanted could be a southpaw destroyer at 135 and had tremendous speed, but he'd get scared when connected on. Oscar didn't use his right hand much at the time so he was more limited. Both had more ko's in these weights, I think Oscar beats him in a split decision, but I wouldn't be surprised if Camacho would score a flash knockdown of Oscar on the way.

At the lower weights, I think people underrate Hector's power. A KD is certainly not crazy.

...How does DLH tko a prime Camacho when he couldn't tko a 50 year old Camacho? A SD is the most likely outcome for either guy,

Easy...Different scenerios can play into the difference.

A prime Camacho would be more willing to fight, rather than to survive.

Like MAB getting TKOd in 2004 at 122 by Pac, but 4 years later not getting KO at 130.

Not so funny now huh..

You seem a bit biased but I'll respectfully disagree. While DeLaHoya had a great jab and great power at 135, he was far too green at this weight to trouble someone with Camacho's pedigree, agility, hand speed(best ever at 130 or 135) and defensive knowledge base. I still believe that a showdown between these two at 130 or 135 would undoubtedly result in a SD decision for one fighter most of the time. People too often associate Camacho with his clownish image and dismiss him instead of objectively reviewing film of him at his best...:good.

Oscar beats down Camacho prime for prime. Closer fight then Oscars dominate first performance over him but Camacho loses just the same.

DLH struggled with southpaws, makes it a very close fight.

Remember that 135 was not DLH's prime weight but it was Camacho's, so technically it isn't prime vs prime.

DLH would beat him, probably on points

Oscar had scary power and speed at that weight. Case in point is his fight with Ruelas and many before him. He slowed down going up in weight and personally I think he was most dangerous at 135.

    Good post,

The highlighted is a great point and why I think that in most cases resume is everything, when ranking fighters.

I think Camacho just had too much of that survival mentality when he'd get hit hard, no matter how old he was.

He was like that against Rosario and that was a young, prime Camacho at 135.

I agree with most of your post.. However to be fair Delahoya improved alot after the Molina fight the type of fights that turn inexperienced talents into elite pfp guys, the type of fight he needed to make him better... Seen it countless times and this was one of those.

Camacho gives him a fits early and wins some rounds with his speed as one of the other posters admitted but ODLH takes over by the mid rounds and sweeps the rest dropping Camacho and having him hold on for dearlife. 116-111 117-110 type decision.

:-( :huh at DLH by stoppage leading the poll. Camacho has never been stopped in almost 90 pro fights.

If he gets really hurt, he's going to run, hold, spoil, run, spoil and run some more to hear the final bell.
