Could even Sal Sanchez cope with a young Camacho given that he was still around 1983? Sal Wasnt known as a big puncher and Hector was a hungry young fighter then How could sal win it?
This would be a difficult one For Sal at 130. I wouldn't be surprised if Camacho pulls off a pts decision.
Cubanito Perez was robbed against the 130 pound version of Hector.Even though Sal never fought at 130,I like Chava in this one.
Sanchez was a 126 camacho was bigger and a lot faster it would be a repeat of camacho vs ramirez :hat
i agree these fighters don't resemble each other at all and they aren't representative of the respective outcomes. in the end though i see the MASSIVE speed advantage for camacho being a deciding factor. if sanchez could time him and disrupt him with a jab he could get work done but i see camacho winning 10 of 15 rounds and taken the fight clearly
That's a fair assessment. Two unknowns in this (other than it's all just speculation of course) are that we never saw Sanchez at this weight, and also that I don't think Camacho was ever tested by a fighter the likes of Sanchez at 130. I agree with your premise and think that IF Sanchez could pull it off, it would be a come from behind requiring all his guile, stamina, and resourcefullness.
Camacho had a big speed and movement advantage just like he had vs ramirez and the same wouldve been vs sanchez. Only chance sanchez had was to wear down camacho over 12rds and catch him at the end. But 130 camacho was in shape, fast and dedicated. Is all speculation like all mythological fights but i just dont see sanchez winning at all. He would get frustrated and maybe stopped at the end. :hat
Hector would pull out a Ud over Salvador, winning 12 out of 15 rounds.Sanchez never saw speed like Camacho had.
Close but no cigar for Sal. Hector's speed eeks it out for him. I like Sanchez, but there's nothing he can significantly get Camacho's attention with at 130.
Much as I dislike Camacho, this style was all wrong for Sal. Sanchez would shine against punchers (Lopez, Gomez, LaPorte) but struggled against boxers (Castillo, Ford, Becerra, Cowdell). He was a counter-puncher and bangers were his bread and butter. This fight would go the distance but at 130, Camacho's prime, a very comfortable decision win for the dude with the glitter on his trunks. Scartissue
