There has been a rumor that MMA bout between Bellator FC champ, one of the best MW in the world Hector Lombardo and European #1 MW Mamed Khalidov is almost on!!! This is going to be huge! The best possible non-UFC fight to be made. Hector would probably go through anybody in UFC MW division apart from Anderson. Mamed looked great in his recent bouts, but the case is how much had he improved since rematch with Jorge Santiago. Why? Because then Mamed went 5 close rounds with guy who definitely isn't a top contender in UFC right now. Unless Mamed catches Hector with some unorthodox technique, Lomabardo will just walk through him. But not even for a single moment should he feel safe cause Khalidov is way too explosive and can make an upset against anybody in the world. Still a strong underdog in this fight. Your opinions?
I'd love to this fight, I agree with you. I see Lombard walking through him. I don't know if Lombard would walk through everyone but I'd like to think he has a good chance of beating the vast majority of the division.
Well maybe I got a little bit carried away when saying that he will 'go through' them. But I believe he would beat most of them and give good fights. Oh! And before anyone says that- I know this is Lombard not Lombardo xD @scurlaruntings I don't know...he never fought for UFC so for me he just fights random names:-(
Lombard has the look. But the reality is he's fought no one of any note and plys his trade in lower leagues that flatter him. If he ever makes it to the UFC he'd have to drop to 170 as he'd easily loose half his fights.
Lombard needs to get in the UFC. He is going the right way about it. At the very least he needs to get into Strikeforce.
He signed a lengthy contact with Bellator IIRC. Plus his found his niche there. He won't be in the UFC/SF for a while unless the UFC offer him more than his worth.
Have to agree about that. His height would be a big disadvantage. Would probably get wrestle f*cked by bigger guys like Sonnen. But I would still give him a shot. And if he'd ever made it to WW then man...that would be great. I personally hate this division. Apart from Diaz and maybe Condit most guys there are so boring. I don't find it competitve at all. Hector ould definitely hang with the guys in the UFC. He has shown that he is well above B-level talent by destroying a plethora of B-level fighters. Makes me think that he is a big fish in a small pond. I mean, he has beat Ebersole, Te Huna, Doerksen, Starnes and Prangley; all of which have had varying levels of success in the UFC. I don't see how he wouldn't at least be somewhat successful having beat those guys. That said, I hope Khalidov wins.
