Real sad news. Camacho was a very talented fighter, one of my favorites growing up. To be honest, it didn't surprise me to here this news due to him always getting into trouble and messing with drugs. I had always hoped that he would chill the hell out, but he was a wild man. Everybody that has met him always talks about what a crazy and wild dude he was.

Manny Steward and now the Macho man, too sad.

RIP Champ. You lived and fought the way you did because of your character, and not because others wanted you to be someone else. Sad way to end a life this way all the same. Just the cycle of life i guess:rasta

The economy is bad. In a bad economy many people die over trivial ****. Some of us will not be here next year due to similar tragedies, only without the fame, the accomplishment, or being a world boxing champion.

I think on balance guys like Vernon Forrest, Corrie Sanders, Hector Camacho and others had more chances in life than most people and decided to stay in their old neighborhoods or through a fluke didn't manage their money very well and these things can happen. The fact is they at least had a chance in their lifetime to get out of the ghetto and it's a chance most people never get.

Too sad about this but word in the street is that he was doing some shady ****. I admire him for always being himself first and foremost but at 50 years old I wanted him to chill out and stay out of harms way... We'll miss you champ!! Long live Macho Man...

Puerto Rico has been a ****ed up place for decades, it just now that it had it highest murder rate in 2011 since they started recording murders, The Carebian, Mexico, Central and South America have some real ****ed up areas, if the San Juan, Puerto Rico metro area was a city in Mexico, it would be among the top 15 worst.

I believe the murder rate for the island is at around 30 per 100,000 people, obviously the most murders happen in LA Area Metro, with a population of around 2.5 million, I'm sure the Metro's murder rate is higher than the Country's rate but still can't find any info to find out the Metro's rate. But compare that to Mexico last I hears it's murder rate is at 25 per 100k, Mexico is a 114 million country, not 3.7 like PR, not comparable at all, you should compare PR with Mexico's cities, Metro areas, or states, not the whole country.

    Puerto Rico, Population 3.7 million - 2011 Rate = 30
    Chihuahua metro, Mexico, Population 853,120 - 2010 = 134

Check the map, only a few areas in Mexico have the ****ed up rate, other areas are safer than the safest in the U.S.

Much more than Chicago and LA, Chicago's rate went up this year, but probably won't come close to 30 per 100k. LA is at around 7 per 100k

At least he died a natural death in the company of his loving family.

It could have been much worse.....he could have been doing something irresponsible and dangerous like being in a bad neighborhood doing cocaine in a car soon after a bad drug deal went down.

    moron
