Incredible speed. Win over past prime Limon was mind boggingly swift and savage. Domination of the very capable and dangerous southpaw JLR a great showing from 'Macho'.

Changed forever after Rosario twatted him.

Chance to redeem himself when he finally met Chavez. Blew it. Feasted on the corpses of older fighters when he himself was past it.

TBH Flea,I thought he was out of danger when I did my original post mate.
I'm not the type to **** on anyone that way,and I'm sure most who know me on here would agree with that.
Funny,I remember when I first joined I was ridiculed for saying Macho could have been the greatest at 135 if he'd have been more dedicated, now you'd think he was the most popular ex-fighter out there.
Those of us who appreciated him know we did before today.:good

Hector Camacho was one of my favourite fighter back in the day. This is really sad news.

In retrospect,I knew it was a bit of a stretch, but I did think he had the potential to crack the top 4 or 5.
But it's still funny to see how you get slaughtered for praising him when he's alive and kicking, and now he's sadly passed, you'd think he was held in the same regard as Arguello.
A tad ironic, but I still believe he could have been a genuine ATG if he had as much dedication as he had talent.

Really talented and could've done better I guess, but he was a career of two halves really and the 2nd part was quite an erratic and odd one.

I'm with you though; watching old 'Macho' stop older Leonard is one of my saddest viewing moments, and I'm not even a big fan of Ray at all. Watching overrated Norris drub a still okay Ray is one of my worst as well.

EDIT: and Duran in his 40s was robbed against Camacho first time round IMO.

Sad news. Thought you post was funny PTF. What a fighter this guy was- think Malinaggi but miles better for those that missed him. His balance and movement were absolutely superb. Totally over matched VS a prime Chavez and still took his licks like a warrior.

I won't say RIP just yet - but drugs or whatever you can't deny the man had skills. He was also hilariously crazy. Phoning Arum crying because he'd found out his dad was Darth Vader. Routinely naked weigh ins. This was a special fighter.

Hope he pulls through but if not thanks for the memories.

Great post Jeff.We could do with someone like Macho livening things up nowadays.Mayorga tried hard but he didn't have a fraction of the talent.
Can you imagine Hector with a Mayweather-type attitude/commitment?

An excellent fighter, who although he never quite lived up to what he looked like he might become in the mid 80s, still had an exceptional career.
