With a resume that is HOF it self with recognizable names like: Freddie Roach Ray Mancini Vinny Paz Julio Cesar Chavez Felix Trinidad ODLH Ray Leonard Roberto Duran Yuri Boy Campas How can Macho not be in any ones top 10 on name power alone. ODLH ranks high on a lot of peoples list and he lost nearly every big fight he was in bar beating JCC and a controversial win over Whitaker. He fought from super feather weight all the way up to super middle weight and beat 2 HOF , ATG's in the process. Hector Camacho is #9 on my ATG list.
I don't think Camacho ever tried to claim that he beat anything other than 2 40somethings in Leonard and Duran, although to his credit he was able to stop both of them. So why are you giving him much credit for them? Noone in history has made that claim, apart from one guy. The only boxer in history who ever thought beating 2 40somethings counted as 2 prime wins was joe cowardzaghe (in his case he didn't stop them but went life and death), and that's because he was desperate to add more than one name to his empty 11year "title" resume. in defence of joe, he full knew they weren't prime, he was just lying to his fans in order to make money from them once again...though he still stands by his lies today, shockingly, he enjoys to keep pyssing on his fans.
Camacho never stopped Duran. Camacho officially won two decisions. the first fight being by way of highway robbery. Ancient Duran actually beat Camacho.
Duran was 50 years old in his last fight with Camacho. Hell Kovalev gets credit for beating Hopkins why not Macho.
When assessing how good a victory over an atg is I always ask two questions. 1. Was the atg a Champion in that weight division or ranked as a current top 10 pfp? 2. What did the atg go on to do after that fight? If the answer to the first question is yes then it's a good victory. If the answer is a no then we move on to question number two.
